Minecraft:Soul Torch

Template:Infobox block Soul torches are non-solid Minecraft:blocks that emit Minecraft:light. They are a variant of the Minecraft:torch crafted with the addition of Minecraft:soul soil or Minecraft:soul sand.

Soul torches can be broken instantly using anything, and drop themselves as an item. Template:Breaking row A soul torch is removed and drops itself as an item if:

Its attachment block is moved, removed, or destroyed
Minecraft:Water flows into its space
A Minecraft:piston pushes it or moves a block into its space

When Minecraft:lava flows into a soul torch's space, it will be destroyed without dropping anything.

Soul torches can be placed on the top or the sides of most solid blocks, although some blocks require Template:Control. Being non-solid, soul torches have no collision box. More information about placement can be found at Minecraft:Opacity/Placement.

Gravity-affected blocks like Minecraft:sand and Minecraft:gravel will not start falling if the space immediately beneath is occupied by a soul torch. Falling blocks break if they fall onto a solid block with a soul torch above it. If there is an Minecraft:air block under the soul torch, the falling blocks fall through the soul torch onto the surface below.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>

Light

Soul torches give off a light level of 10. Because their light level is lower than 12, soul torches do not melt Minecraft:snow or Minecraft:ice.

When the Minecraft:Render Dragon Features for Creators experiment is enabled in Minecraft:Minecraft Preview, the top part of soul torches emits colored point lighting with Template:Color. This causes the bottom part of the soul torch to render a small square shadow.
