Minecraft:Frozen South

Template:ExclusiveTemplate:More images Template:Infobox world Frozen South, also known as Frozen Planet II: Frozen South, is a lesson in Minecraft:Minecraft Education and a free Minecraft:Marketplace map in Template:BE. As part of the Frozen Planet II lesson series, the map was inspired by BBC Earth's documentary series Template:Wp,<ref>Frozen Planet II</ref> and is made to raise awareness on endangered species living on the South Pole.

Summary

The player spawns in a blue room with a Minecraft:jungle planks floor and a door leading to a black, narrow hall, teleporting them to Antarctica.

Chinstrap penguin

According to the narrator, the only residents of Antarctica are animals in the Southern Ocean, such as Template:Wps. As one of the penguins, the player has to gather six rocks to build a nest with in a matter of three minutes. While gathering, other penguins attempt to steal the rocks, which the player can scare off by using Hit. This causes the rock they currently carry to drop. Building the nest three times wins the minigame and teleports the player to the ocean.

Killer whale

In the Southern Ocean, killer orcas are on the hunt for Template:Wps, led by a matriarch which the player takes the role. To reach the seal, they have to gather four killer whales to their pod by swimming through rings, then knock the ice floe when the arrow reaches the green bar. Performing this three times ends the minigame.

Research base

The player is teleported in human form to the research base where they have to take photos of a chinstrap penguin, a killer whale attempting to catch a penguin on an ice floe, a penguin hatchling in its nest, and a Weddell seal. After collecting all photos and giving them to the researcher, they explain how "the Antarctic ice sheet covers 8.3% of the Earth's surface" and how climate change affects their melting, threatening coastal cities. Feeling "overwhelmed" by environmental thoughts, they claim they only calm down either after talking about their feelings or seeing people help the environment. They then provide ecological tips and ways to slow climate change, and the screen darkens to show the artwork before brightening into end credits in an antarctic background.
