Minecraft:Azalea Leaves

Template:Infobox block Azalea leaves are evergreen Minecraft:leaves that generate as part of Minecraft:azalea trees and drop Minecraft:azaleas. Flowering azalea leaves are a variant that function as Minecraft:flowers for Minecraft:bee mechanics and drop Minecraft:flowering azaleas.

Minecraft:Hoes are the default tools for breaking leaves, but leaves can be obtained only with Minecraft:shears or tools Minecraft:enchanted with Minecraft:Silk Touch.

Without shears, azalea leaves can drop 1 Minecraft:azalea or Minecraft:flowering azalea,Template:Fn and 1—2 Minecraft:sticks. Minecraft:Fortune increases the chances.

Natural generation

Azalea and flowering azalea leaves occur naturally on Minecraft:azalea trees that generate above Minecraft:lush caves. Most of the canopy consists of regular azalea leaves.

Post-generation

Usage

Leaves from trees spontaneously decay (disappear) when they receive a block tick if they are not connected to any Minecraft:log or Minecraft:wood blocks, stripped or otherwise, either directly or via other leaf blocks, with a maximum distance of 6 blocksTemplate:Only or 4 blocks.Template:Only Template:IN, this is determined using the Template:Cd Minecraft:block tag, whereas Template:In, the list of blocks is hardcoded. The distance is taxicab distance, but can cross corners. Leaves placed by players never decay. Minecraft:Bamboo does not count as a log for this purpose.

Azalea leaves that decay have the same drop chances as when broken by players, yielding Minecraft:azaleas or Minecraft:flowering azaleasTemplate:Fn 5% (Template:Frac) of the time, Minecraft:sticks 2% of the time, and otherwise nothing. Leaves that are burned do not yield azaleas.

Leaves are always Minecraft:transparent to Minecraft:light but cannot be seen through when the Minecraft:graphics is set to "Fast" or fancy leaves are turned off; the transparent regions are instead dark green. Leaves that are entirely surrounded by full blocks also render opaque in Bedrock Edition. They diffuse sky light, causing the shadows they cast under trees.

Leaf blocks can be waterlogged although they are full blocks. Water does not spread out,Template:Only and waterlogged leaves follow the same rules as any other waterlogged block. When Minecraft:concrete powder is placed on any side of the waterlogged leaves it turns into Minecraft:concrete, and the leaf block remains waterlogged.

Although leaves behave as solid blocks by preventing entities from moving through them, they also behave as non-solid, in that leaves do not prevent chests from opening.

Unlike most other leaves, azalea leaves do not change color depending on the Minecraft:biome they are placed in, but always stay lush green. They also do not turn white during Minecraft:snowfall.

Redstone component

Template:Exclusive The state of a leaves block—including a player-placed block—changes after 1 game tick (half a redstone tick) when the distance to the nearest Minecraft:log or Minecraft:wood block changes, up to 6 blocks of leaves away. Minecraft:Observers facing away from the leaves detect this change and transmit a redstone signal in the same game tick, making leaves useful for redstone signal transmission.

Piston interactivity

Leaves are destroyed when pushed by Minecraft:pistons. They do not stick to Minecraft:sticky pistons, Minecraft:slime blocks, or Minecraft:honey blocks.

Composting

Regular azalea leaves have a 30% chance of increasing the compost level in a Minecraft:composter by 1. A stack of leaves yields an average of 3.05 Minecraft:bone meal.

Flowering azalea leaves have a 50% chance of increasing the compost level, a stack yielding 4.92 pieces of bone meal on average.

Bees

Flowering azaleas leaves function like any other Minecraft:flower in their interaction and uses with Minecraft:bees.

Particles

Azalea leaves produce falling leaves Minecraft:particles underneath the leaf block, where they slowly fall to the ground. They have the same green color as the block.

Trivia

• Occasionally, leaves grow through other blocks, acting as though they are still connected to the tree. They may also completely replace blocks they try to grow into.
• Some trees seem to occasionally drop azaleas without being destroyed due to creation of leaf blocks not supported by logs.
