Food, drinks & potions perks:

*Perks: Food perks do NOT stack. Eating another food after consuming a different one overrides its perk(s) with the most recent food eaten. Potions behave like this as well; drinking a new potion will immediately overwrite your active potion buff. While players cannot layer multiple foods or multiple potions, one potion + one food perks can be stacked together simultaneously.

Experience mechanics

Deleting a building piece prevents Construction experience from being gained for that piece. Testing suggests that if 3 items are built and then deleted, building another 3 items will grant no experience, but building the fourth will grant experience as normal. Additionally, when building structures such as wall and roof pieces, it seems that pieces in the same family have a shared deletion counter (so, for example, a 30 degree Ash roof and a 45 degree Ash roof share the same build and deletion count). These counters are reset upon leaving and re-entering the world.

Gathering materials

Template:Main

Most Construction methods involve using lower-tier materials made from ash or Dragonwilds:oak to build objects. As a result, any of the techniques for gathering Dragonwilds:Woodcutting experience quickly will also result in these materials being gathered quickly for use in Construction.

If the player wishes to use Dragonwilds:planks for their Construction training, a large number of sawmills can be built to process them. If a lumber storage is placed nearby the sawmills (or they are all pointing towards it in a circle), the planks will be automatically deposited into the storage.

Methods

World reloading

A simple method of training Construction is to acquire a large number of relatively cheap to obtain resources, building as many as possible, and then deleting them all and reloading the world. This technique is best to use with items that reward a relatively large amount of XP but have materials that can be acquired relatively quickly. Some candidates for this method are:

The XP/hr of this method will vary depending on the object being used and the amount of time it takes to build and destroy the objects and reload the world. The maximum number of placements/minute appears to be somewhere around 180 if constantly placing objects, but unless using the Auto-destruction method, this is not feasible due to mouse movements and time lost to destruction and resets. If the player can place 60 objects/minute on average using a 40 XP object, this method will provide roughly 144,000 Construction XP/hr on average (roughly 200,000 fully boosted). Dragonwilds:Eye of Oculus can be used during this method to place objects vertically as well as horizontally, possibly increasing placement speed on average.

Auto-destruction

An enclosure with open books on the ground

Some objects will automatically destroy themselves when stacked a certain number of times directly on top of the ground (ie, without being on top of a Dragonwilds:foundation). When this happens, the materials are automatically returned to the player's inventory but Construction XP is still awarded. This allows the player to stand in a single place and place the same object repeatedly without consuming materials or needing to reload the world.

It is usually recommended to build a small enclosure around where you're doing this in order to prevent materials from exploding outwards due to physics.

The most popular object to build when using this method is the Dragonwilds:Open Book. After stacking two open books on top of each other on the ground, the third explodes when building. Around 180 books can be placed per minute at maximum efficiency, meaning this method achieves roughly 220,000 base Construction XP/hr. This can be further boosted to roughly 297,000 XP/hr when using all available XP boosts.

The Dragonwilds:Simple Rug can also be used with this method, but the Dragonwilds:Coarse Thread tends to clip through the bottom of the world, quickly resulting in a loss of resources over time. However, the Simple Rug gives 3x the amount of XP that the Open Book does, allowing for a theoretical XP/hr of roughly 875,000 (fully boosted). This method would achieve 99 Construction in a little over an hour, assuming materials are not lost.

Ghost roofing

A single pillar with an unbuilt Castle roof attached.

This method requires the player to be connected to a dedicated server. It does not work when playing solo or when hosting a solo world online.Template:Fact

When connected to a dedicated server, Construction experience is awarded for placing a roof that the player does not have the materials to construct. The roof is automatically placed as a Dragonwilds:blueprint and Construction experience is awarded. This enables the player to build a single (real) pillar sticking out of the ground, and then rapidly place roofs attached to that pillar to gain Construction experience. The best roof to do this with is the 45° Castle roof as it awards 30 Construction XP per placement, meaning this method is roughly 324,000 Construction XP/hr (437,000 XP/hr fully boosted). Once the player is done training, they may remove the pillar, causing the game to automatically remove the blueprints as no longer being supported.
