Cow Overview
Cow is a Beast Form and a Curse bestowed by Maronesa in the Crystal Cavern or in the Dark Chapel.
Cows are able to collect Grass and Milk periodically. They can consume grass for a heal, which turns out to be a cheap, potent self-healing mechanism.
Being a cow means you look harmless to other animals, so deer and similar animals don’t run away from you.
If you get tired of being a cow, kill Maronesa to remove the curse. You can also use a
, though this is generally considered a very wasteful use of the item.
For more information on how to navigate being turned into an animal visit the Beast Forms page for advice.

Cow Mechanics
Out-of-Combat Experience
Cows are kind of screwed with hooves instead of hands, meaning they can’t use a saw for Carpentry, for instance. But with a little imagination we can envision a cow planting vegetables and growing a garden, so they can do that, and a few other things.
Vegetarian Cows
Cows that maintain a vegetarian diet can be milked by other players more often, as follows: newbie or non-vegetarian cow: once per hour (unchanged); low-level vegetarian cow: once every 45 minutes; vegetarian cow over level 24: once every 30 minutes; vegetarian cow over level 49: once every 15 minutes - Two higher-level versions of the Collect Milk ability are given out at Cow level 38 and 52. They have faster reset times, allowing you to collect milk more quickly. These versions only work if you have the Vegetarian badge.
Riding
As a Beast Form, Cows are not able to use the traditional Horse mounts offered through Riding. Instead, Suspicious Cow in Eltibule and Raul in Animal Town teache mount-form to Cow players who are at least level 25. Raul also teaches a speed-up ability that consumes grass.
Equipment
Cow armor can be crafted through Blacksmithing (shoes) and Toolcrafting (champron and barding). The Champron (Head slot) gives extra resistance to Piercing and Slashing damage, while the Barding (Chest) gives resistance to just Piercing. Cow Shoes give you extra speed while sprinting.
Crafters producing equipment for use by Cows should obtain the Sigil Scripting recipe Cow Inscription, which allows for the creation of

Trivia
Originally, there was a mysterious bucket at the end of the tutorial cave. Drinking from this would turn you into a cow, and the main way to become human was by completing a quest from Harry the Wolf. Global chat was filled with moooooo!
Later on, the bucket was replaced by Maronesa, still in the tutorial cave. The big warning message deterred some players, but it was still pretty common for newbies to emerge as cows.
Eventually Maronesa was moved to Crystal Cavern, and Gajus the Big-Headed took her spot.
