Usage

This template automatically determines the page's protection level and namespace for its information.

The parameter Template:P can be added for an additional note as to why it is protected. If unset, it defaults to "to prevent vandalism", or "because it is widely transcluded" on templates.

The parameter Template:P can be added if a protected page has an editcopy page for suggesting changes. The linked editcopy page defaults to {{FULLPAGENAME}}/editcopy, but can be changd by passing in a different pagename as the value of Template:P.

If an unprotected page (that is not a template documentation page) uses this template, it is added to Category:Unprotected pages using Template:Protected.
