Minecraft:Tall Dry Grass

Tall dry grass is the tall variant of dry grass. Unlike other tall variants of foliage, this block is only one-block tall. It generates frequently in Minecraft:deserts and all types of Minecraft:badlands, and looks like a more full version of short dry grass. It also grows on Minecraft:sand and Minecraft:terracotta, and can be eaten by Minecraft:sheep.

Obtaining

Breaking

Tall dry grass can be broken instantly with any item or by hand. If broken with Minecraft:shears or any tool enchanted with Minecraft:Silk Touch it drops itself, otherwise it drops nothing. Template:Breaking row

Natural generation

Tall dry grass generates in Minecraft:deserts and Minecraft:badlands.

Post generation

Using bone meal on Minecraft:short dry grass turns it into tall dry grass.

Trading

Minecraft:Wandering traders may sell 1 tall dry grass for 1 Minecraft:emerald. Template:Trade sources

Mob loot

Template:IN, Minecraft:wandering traders have a chance of 8.5% (increased by 1% per level of Minecraft:Looting) to drop 1 tall grass when killed while showing the item as trade offer, if the player holds an Minecraft:emerald.

Usage

Tall dry grass can be used for aesthetic decoration. Tall dry grass can be placed on any of the following blocks: Template:Columns-list

Template:IN, tall dry grass can be Minecraft:snowlogged.

When a Minecraft:sheep eats tall dry grass, the block is removed, and a Minecraft:sheared sheep regrows its Minecraft:wool. Baby sheep graze tall dry grass 20 times more often than adults and mature 1 minute faster when grazing.

Fuel

When used in a Minecraft:furnace as Minecraft:fuel, a piece of tall dry grass lasts 5 seconds (smelting half an item).

Composting

Placing tall dry grass into a Minecraft:composter has a 30% chance of raising the compost level by 1, the lowest chance possible. On average, a stack of tall dry grass yields 2.74 bone meal.

Bone meal

Bone meal can be used on tall dry grass to place a short dry grass on a neighboring block if possible.

Ambience

If placed on Minecraft:sand, Minecraft:red sand or a Minecraft:terracotta block of any kind with at least one more corresponding block underneath it, tall dry grass occasionally produces ambient sounds reminiscent of wind howling. These ambient sounds can play anywhere if the given conditions are met, and naturally play in the Minecraft:badlands and Minecraft:desert biomes due to the abundance of dry grass on top of said blocks.
