ProjectGorgon:Basics of Alchemy "... and layman often confuse ProjectGorgon:Mycology and ProjectGorgon:Alchemy because they both use mushrooms. But here's the rule of thumb: if it's JUST mushrooms, it's Mycology. If it involves combining lots of things into a potion, it's Alchemy. As always there are exceptions, but the rule is at least 51% accurate... This book focuses on Alchemy. Mycology is a lesser art, unbecoming of a true mage."

Alchemy Overview

Alchemy is a crafting skill that is easy to learn, difficult to master. ProjectGorgon:Mycology is tangentially related, but many Alchemists refuse to accept it as such. Alchemists often mix potions, lotions, ointments, and oils. Some Alchemists have been known to use their skills to create poisoned weapons, or specific potions to resist the elements.

In-Game Description

The art of combining esoteric things together to make potions and poisons.

Training Alchemy

The ProjectGorgon:Alchemy skill is learned by doing anything to gain experience in Alchemy. Unlike some other skills, you do not need to first learn the skill in order to gain experience in Alchemy. There are several ways to first gain XP in Alchemy:

Learn level 0 Alchemy recipes, and use them.
  • ProjectGorgon:Therese will teach Recipe: Bone Meal (From Any Bone) and Recipe: Bone Meal (From Humanoid Skull) (both level 0 Alchemy recipes) if you gain favor with her.

Once a level 0 recipe is learned, use that recipe to gain Alchemy XP and the ProjectGorgon:Alchemy skill. Repeat the recipe, and/or use additional recipes to gain more experience (first use of any recipe gives an XP bonus), and increase your skill level. As your skill level increases, greater experience gains may be achieved by continuing to learn additional recipes from various books (see below).

Earn Alchemy experience by doing favors
Earn Alchemy experience by doing hang-outs

Levels 51-60 are unlocked by ProjectGorgon:Inella or ProjectGorgon:Strom Farblood

Levels 61-70 and 71-80 are unlocked by ProjectGorgon:Strom Farblood

Alchemy on ProjectGorgon:Anagoge

ProjectGorgon:Alchemy can be learned on ProjectGorgon:Anagoge Island without ever leaving the island. Learn the recipes in ProjectGorgon:Basics of Alchemy as described above. These recipes allow for the creation of ProjectGorgon:Parasol Mushroom Flakes. The flakes are a necessary ingredient for ProjectGorgon:Pick-Me-Up Juice. Creating ProjectGorgon:Pick-Me-Up Juice gains skill in Alchemy, and you may find the juice is needed by a certain individual on the island.
