The Eastern Expansion Program was created by the StarCitizen:United Nations of Earth sometime after their founding in StarCitizen:2380, and before the discovery of the StarCitizen:Vega system in StarCitizen:2402.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>
The program was originally created to help support NavJumpers searching for new systems throughout the verse, and was meant to encourage people to fill colony ships charted for new territories.<ref name=":0">Template:Cite RSI</ref>
In StarCitizen:2412 the program was rebranded as Project Far Star and was given new life. Project Far Star was considered a key driver of the StarCitizen:Human Colonial Expansion Era.<ref name=":0" />
