Template:Astronomical object Pyro IV is a rocky "Mercury-like" protoplanet in the StarCitizen:Pyro system.  Although classified as a protoplanet in the StarCitizen:Starmap, Pyro IV is actually the outermost natural satellite of the gas giant StarCitizen:Pyro V. Astronomers believe that Pyro IV was once the fourth planet from the sun in the Pyro system. However, a collision with a large celestial body knocked Pyro IV out of its orbit and into its current position around Pyro V. The impact destroyed Pyro IV's atmosphere and significantly altered its landscape. While Pyro IV has developed a new atmosphere, it is not habitable and remains on a collision course with Pyro V. Eventually, Pyro IV will either crash into Pyro V or be torn apart and become a ring system.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>

Climate and Environment

Pyro IV's atmosphere is toxic and breathing equipment is required for surface expeditions. Daytime temperatures sit below the freezing point at around -20 °C.<ref>Template:Cite game</ref>

Mining operations have stripped Pyro IV of any notable materials.

A large impact crater, visible from orbit, hints at the planet's violent past

A gigantic impact crater is easily visible from orbit on Pyro IV's northern hemisphere, with concentric mountain ranges and bays surrounding it. It is most likely the site of the collision which led to the shift in Pyro IV's orbit.
