thumb|right| The roadmap design update from December 2020 The Roadmap refers to a section on the StarCitizen:RSI website where the development progress of Star Citizen and StarCitizen:Squadron 42 can be tracked on a webpage.<ref name="roadmap_update">Template:Cite RSI</ref><ref name="roadmap_upcoming">Template:Cite RSI</ref><ref name="roadmap_companion">Template:Cite RSI</ref> The current design of the roadmap was published December 23rd 2020.<ref>Roadmap Roundup - December 23rd, 2020 archived on star-citizen.wiki</ref>

There are two sections:

  • Release view: shows progress from a patch specific perspective
  • Progress tracker: shows progress from a deliverable perspective or a development team perspective.

Development

The roadmap has been built by StarCitizen:Turbulent.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref> In March 2020, CIG announced that the existing roadmap linear format did not match the approach CIG taking in the development, and that they were considering basing it on the internal sprint-tracking process.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref> In July 2020 CIG presented four points they would present about the new roadmap, an explanation of the goals, a rough mockup, a work in progress version, and then finally the transition, leading to the community making [[StarCitizen::Category:Memes|memes]] about a roadmap to the roadmap.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>

The 1.0 column

Roadmap april 2026 with the 1.0 column.

Since the StarCitizen:CitizenCon 2024 and the presentation of what is planned for version 1.0, the roadmap includes features and content planned for inclusion in or before Star Citizen 1.0. This means we may not have to wait for the 1.0 release to experience them. As features/content in the 1.0 column become ready, they will migrate left into a point patch column for release. <ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>
