Sand Nomads are a group of human StarCitizen:Outlaws, living a restless life on StarCitizen:Leir III. Ignored by the StarCitizen:UEE and the StarCitizen:Outsiders, they forming small wandering groups, endangered by the StarCitizen:Valakkar and the raging sandstorms of the planet.

Appearance

Sand Nomads wearing in the StarCitizen:Homestead Demo a tight linen-like cloth skirt and trousers in combination with a armored suit to protect their body. They also wear a hood - similar to a tallit or a berber cheich. But instead of a veil (typical for the chich) to protect their eyes, mouth and nose from sand grains, they use a special mask which covers mouth and face. In the demo they speak also a cryptic high-pitched language.

Development

The Desert Nomad game character was made for the 2016 StarCitizen:CitizenCon presentation in the fall as basically one of the enemy soldiers in the demo on an idea by Josh Herman.<ref>Relay.sc Transcript of Around The Verse, Ep. 3.10, accessed 2016-12-05</ref> Later on this character was converted to a wearable player armor/costume. This character was created on a tight deadline in about four weeks, mostly by StarCitizen:James Ku. StarCitizen:Josh Herman made the hires sculpt of the helmet.  Omar Aweidah made the hires sculpt of the arm armor.  The concept illustration was done by StarCitizen:Jeremiah Lee who labeled the model "desert Nomad Character.<ref name=":0">Star Citizen - Desert Nomad, jameskuart.com</ref><ref>Around The Verse: Road to CitizenCon, Minute 02:58, accessed 2016-10-15</ref>
