Originally, it was marketed purely as an energy drink, with commercials featuring deep-space explorers and long-haul spacers using the beverage to stay awake and alert while navigating dangerous territory. After modest success, Sakura Sun switched Synergy to natural ingredients and re-branded it as a healthy alternative to other energy drinks.<ref name="galactapedia" />
