Chaos Cubed is an upcoming Minecraft:game drop that will release as Minecraft:Java Edition 26.2 and Minecraft:Bedrock Edition 26.30 during the second quarter of 2026. It focuses on the sulfur caves, a cave Minecraft:biome that is home to sulfur cubes, the new Minecraft:sulfur and Minecraft:cinnabar blocks with their respective variants, as well as sulfur pools with noxious gas that inflicts the Nausea effect. It was announced at Minecraft LIVE – March 2026.

Some features of this drop will be released earlier as an experiment in Minecraft:Bedrock Edition 26.20.

Items

Template:InvSprite Bucket of sulfur cube

  • Can be used to transport the sulfur cube to a new location.

Template:InvSprite Sulfur cube spawn egg

Mobs

File:Sulfur Cube JE1.png File:Sulfur Cube JE1.png Sulfur cube

  • A passive slime-like mob that spawns in sulfur caves.
  • Immune to fall damage.
  • When killed, it will split into 2 small cubes, like other slime-like mobs.
    • Unlike the slime and magma cube, the small versions can grow up into the large version, like how a baby mob works.
  • It is attracted to the dropped item form of most full blocks. The cube can pick up a block, or a player can Template:Ctrl a full block on the cube, causing the cube to absorb it into its body.
    • File:Sulfur Cube Stone JE1.png In this state, they become stuck in place and cannot be damaged by most entities. Instead, they are knocked back when attacked. They still take damage from environmental sources such as cacti and burning for example.
      • The knockback also depends on the damage that would have been dealt, with stronger attacks sending the cube further.
    • Can be leashed in that state.
    • Blocks can be swapped by clicking.
    • Shearing it removes and drops the block, reverting back to normal.
    • Depending on the block, they will behave differently when punched while in its immobile state, the following properties are:
      • File:Sulfur Cube Stone.png Football/Regular: Medium speed, medium bounciness, medium ground friction and low air drag. (block example: Minecraft:stone)
      • File:Sulfur Cube Oak Log.png Rubber ball/Bouncy: Fast speed, high bounciness, medium ground friction and low air drag. (block example: oak log)
      • File:Sulfur Cube Moss Block.png Golf ball/Fast flat: Fast speed, low bounciness, medium ground friction and low air drag. (block example: moss block)
        • Sinks underwater.
      • File:Sulfur Cube Ice.png Hockey puck/Fast sliding: Fast speed, no bounciness, low ground friction and low air drag. (block example: Minecraft:ice)
        • Sinks underwater.
      • File:Sulfur Cube Soul Sand.png High resistance: Very slow, low drag with low bounce with high friction. (block example: soul sand)
        • Sinks underwater.
      • File:Sulfur Cube White Wool.png Beach ball/Light: Slow speed, high bounciness, medium ground friction and high air drag. (block example: white wool)
      • File:Sulfur Cube Block of Iron.png Medicine ball/Slow flat: Slow speed, low bounciness, medium ground friction and medium air drag. (block example: block of iron)
        • Sinks underwater.
      • File:Sulfur Cube Mushroom Block.png Curling stone/Slow sliding: Slow speed, no bounciness, low ground friction and low air drag. (block example: red mushroom block)
        • Sinks underwater.
      • File:Sulfur Cube Honeycomb.png Sticky: Same properties as a golf ball, but sticks with extremely high ground friction and no bounce to simulate stickiness, only affects the honeycomb block.
        • Sinks underwater.
