This moon's name has its roots in the Latin word "umbra", which means shadow. An appropriate reference considering Umbriel is the darkest of all Uranian moons.
In 2949, artist StarCitizen:Tamsa Wheel used ice harvested from the moon as a centrepiece in her work "The Anthropic Principle".<ref>Script error: No such module "Cite RSI".</ref>
