Minecraft:Depth Strider

Template:Infobox enchantment Depth Strider is an Minecraft:enchantment applied to Minecraft:boots that lessens the movement speed reduction that occurs when in water.

Obtaining

Depth Strider can be obtained from Minecraft:enchanting tables, drops from mobs that have spawned in a Minecraft:raid,Template:Only books obtained by Minecraft:fishing, librarian Minecraft:villagers (or if the "Minecraft:Villager Trade Rebalance" experimental datapack is enabled, a swamp librarian), and in the following structure loot chests: Minecraft:desert pyramids, Minecraft:strongholds, Minecraft:ocean ruins, Minecraft:ancient cities, Minecraft:woodland mansions, Minecraft:pillager outposts, Minecraft:mineshafts, Minecraft:dungeons, Minecraft:jungle pyramids, and from vaults in Minecraft:trial chambers.

Usage

Each level of Depth Strider increases Minecraft:water movement efficiency by ⅓, including reducing the speed at which flowing water pushes the player when standing still. An Minecraft:armor stand carrying armor enchanted with Depth Strider also moves slower when being pushed by water.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>

Level 3 lets the player Minecraft:swim as fast as Minecraft:walking on land. Any higher level has no effect on speed. Also at level 3, a Speed potion affects the player's swimming the same as walking.

Depth Strider can normally be applied only to Minecraft:boots. Using Minecraft:commands, the enchantment still works when applied to other types of armor (such as a helmet). However, it has no effect unless the enchanted item is equipped in the feet slot.

Depth Strider only affects horizontal movement speed in water. Vertical movement speed is not affected.<ref>Template:Bug resolved as "Works As Intended"</ref>
