Prized for its lightweight and nimble nature, Linen Armour finds favour among apprentice wizards and those who value agility. Composed of layered cloth, it forms a rudimentary defence capable of withstanding minor assaults.
At first, acolytes would spend time at the Wizards' Tower learning about the magic that this armour protects the wearer against. It was common for young priestly acolytes to become enamoured with the mysterious life of the apprentice wizards. They would see them hurling spells with skill and panache, making their lives of quiet contemplation seem awfully dull in comparison. Many young acolytes would make Linen Armour for themselves and practise spellcasting in secret.
The priests soon discovered their numbers dwindling, while the Wizards' Guild ranks swelled. So, the decree was made that robes were to be crafted in silent contemplation, far away from those who would later wear them. This kept fewer acolytes from being lured away, but the defensive prowess of the armour diminished in return.
The high priests considered this a reasonable compromise.
