Minecraft:Charcoal

Template:For Template:Infobox item Charcoal is an Minecraft:item obtained by smelting Minecraft:logs or Minecraft:wood. It is used as fuel, or for crafting Minecraft:torches and Minecraft:campfires. Unlike Minecraft:coal, charcoal cannot be traded with Minecraft:villagers or crafted into a Minecraft:block of coal. Coal and charcoal also cannot stack together. It can be used as a substitute for coal, as both charcoal and coal have an equivalent duration when smelted.

Lab table ingredient

Charcoal is one of the Minecraft:lab table ingredients needed to produce the Minecraft:heat block.

Fuel

When used in a Minecraft:furnace as a fuel, a piece of charcoal lasts 80 seconds (smelting up to 8 items), the same as coal. Charcoal used as fuel lasts more than 5 times longer than Minecraft:wood planks or Minecraft:wood logs used as fuel, being more efficient than any other use of wood for smelting Template:In, but outstripped by Minecraft:wooden slabs Template:In.

Coal and charcoal are also the only fuels accepted by Minecraft:furnace minecarts. They provide three minutes of transit each.
