Minecraft:Frozen Peaks (world)

From SAS Gaming Wiki

Template:ExclusiveTemplate:More images Template:Infobox world Frozen Peaks, also known as Frozen Planet II: Frozen Peaks, is a lesson in Minecraft:Minecraft Education and a free Minecraft:Marketplace map in Template:BE. As part of the Frozen Planet II lesson series, the map was inspired by BBC Earth's documentary series Template:Wp,<ref>Frozen Planet II</ref> and features various animals in mountainous regions.

Summary

The player starts the map in a blue-walled room with a Minecraft:jungle planks flooring and a door leading to a dark hall, teleporting the player to the mountains during sunrise.

High-casqued chameleon

In the cutscene, the narrator describes how mountain animals adapt to the cold of high altitudes, including the Template:Wp. A female chameleon in a yellow valley woke up after a freezing night and must search for food, despite her inability to walk. To reach the feeding area (the Minecraft:beacon beam surrounded by Minecraft:pines), the player has to walk through the path while avoiding a predatory bird trying to attack them. This can be done by changing color to blend into the ground. A temperature bar appears beside them, lowering overtime until the chameleon freezes in place, but can be raised by changing the color to black.

Golden eagle

After reaching the pine trees, the cutscene plays where the chameleon reaches out for an insect on a treetop as a Template:Wp flies above her. According to the narrator, both parents need to hunt to feed their three week-old chick, but only Template:Wp goats live as prey in this environment. As one of the parents, the player has to find a chamois and carry it to the nest.

Research base

After bringing three goats to the nest, the player is teleported to the research base in human form, on the balcony of a building in the valley. Around camp, they have to take photos of a chamouflaging or normal high-casqued chameleon in the valley, a golden eagle on the mountain, an eagle nest on the peaks, and a melting glacier on a mountain slope. After gathering all photos, the player must bring them to the researcher across the bridge. The researcher explains how mountain animals managed to survive the harsh conditions in their habitat. They also frustratedly mention climate change and its effects on the golden eagles and melting glaciers, emphasizing contribution to reduce climate change. The map then ends with the key artwork, then the end credits on a background with mountains and the valley.
