Minecraft:Nether Fossil

Nether fossils are fossils that generate in Minecraft:soul sand valleys that can sometimes contain Minecraft:dried ghasts.

Generation

Nether fossils generate randomly throughout the Nether in Minecraft:soul sand valleys.

Due to a bug, Nether fossils in Bedrock Edition have been seen generating in existing chunks.Template:Cn

Structure

Template:Main Nether fossils are composed of 5 to 27 Minecraft:bone blocks. Unlike regular Minecraft:fossils, they do not have a lowered structure integrity and no blocks are replaced with coal or Minecraft:diamond ore. They are made with the NBT Minecraft:structure block format and the NBT files for each fossil are stored in the folder Template:Code.

Nether fossils have a ¹⁄₃ (~33.3%) chance of generating a Minecraft:dried ghast adjacent to them.

History

Trivia

• Nether fossils are one of the 3 Minecraft:generated structures that never generate with loot chests (the others being Minecraft:swamp huts and Minecraft:ocean monuments).
• Nether fossils do not have Minecraft:coal ore, Minecraft:deepslate diamond ore, or Minecraft:diamond ore, like their counterparts (Overworld Minecraft:fossils).
• While Overworld fossils are considered Minecraft:features like trees, Nether fossils are considered Minecraft:structures instead.
