Jacovin's Penis

Traditional

In the years after Ilth Hale's Rebuke, new gods emerged from the sea of souls, pouring from the ragged wound in reality that was made during the battle.

A new god is a fragile thing. Before it chooses an avatar and identity, it can be moulded by others, shaped by other gods. And so Errana, still a relatively young god herself, found newly-born Jacovin while he was trying to determine his first avatar. She decided to make him love her.

"You look good as a human," said Errana, "but you would look better as an elf."

"Perhaps," said Jacovin. He became an elf and considered. "No, I believe a human form is more fitting for my first avatar. I have been told that one's first avatar is important and symbolic."

"It is true. And this is my avatar," said Errana, showing off her buxom, nearly-naked elven form. "Do you like it?"

"It is pleasant indeed," said Jacovin, barely paying attention. "But please, I need to experiment with different facial features. I would be honored to speak with you at a later time."

Errana resented being dismissed by such a young and naive god. She increased her efforts to enrapture Jacovin. Becoming a human woman with long blonde locks, she said, "If you truly are to be a human instead of an elf, then you must prefer the body I have now over the other. Is that so?" She moved closer, her hips swaying in a way that would entrance any mortal human, and placed an arm upon his shoulder.

"Perhaps," said Jacovin. "But I would need to examine each of your forms very carefully, for I find that neither of them is especially more striking than the other."

This enraged Errana, for few gods could deny Errana's beauty, and most gods were eager to please her and to be with her. She sidled up to Jacovin and removed his simple robes. Undressing also, she said, "You are a young god, and so I will help you to understand sex. Look at me," she commanded, and Jacovin did so. "Feel me," she commanded, and Jacovin did so. "Taste me," commanded Errana, and Jacovin obeyed.

"How are you doing this to me?" asked Jacovin. "I am fascinated by your force of will upon my body."

"Shut up and fuck me," said Errana, grasping Jacovin's penis. But it remained limp.

"I have found the limits of your power, then," said Jacovin, pushing her away. "You are objectively beautiful, but I do not feel the urge to copulate now. I have more pressing matters."

"You DARE speak thus to the god of sex!" shouted Errana. With a surge of power, she knocked Jacovin senseless and stole his penis. Then she floated away, leaving a trail of gemstones for Jacovin to follow when he awoke.

Such is Errana's power over sex that the young god Jacovin could not regrow his penis. When he awoke, he marveled at this problem for quite a while, trying to understand the nature of how Errana had done what she did. But soon he decided there were more pressing questions to answer. Since he felt odd being a male with no penis, he became a female instead, and began reshaping her avatar to suit her.

For a year Errana waited for Jacovin to follow her. Errana sulked, and fumed, and cursed. But then she began to feel bad. "He was rude to me, but he is a new god who does not know his power. I have been cruel to someone weaker than myself. That is not the way I wish to be. I must make amends."

She returned to find Jacovin, who was then studying the nature of ocean life. "Ah, Errana, was it? I must have offended you when we first met. I did not mean to. Tell me what I did to upset you, so that it doesn't happen again."

"I was angry that you were not interested in sex with me."

"Ah. I am interested in the idea, and in time I shall wish to experience it firsthand... but first I must study other things."

Errana felt a new surge of anger well up, and pushed it away. "Jacovin, I will return your penis to you. I am sorry for taking it. I expect you missed it much?"

"Thank you," said Jacovin. "Some day I may have an avatar that needs a penis. But this, my symbolic first avatar, is a woman. So the penis has not been a pressing concern."

"No!" said Errana in concern. "Then my meddling in your youthful form has caused you to prefer a woman's body when you should have preferred a man's!"

"Perhaps..." said Jacovin, considering the idea. "But no, I do not think so. I am more comfortable as a woman. And since I am the god of Experimentation, it was only a matter of time before I discovered this on my own."

"I see the problem, then," said Errana, becoming a dark and handsome human man, wide in stature and tall. "I was seducing you with the wrong avatar!"

"Perhaps..." said Jacovin, cocking her head. "Yes, your new avatar is more pleasing to me. But I am busy with other experiments. It will be some time before I am interested in sex with you."

"You value knowledge over sex? Over life!?" Errana bit her lip to try to contain her anger, but being young, she could not control her rage. She hurled epithets at the young god. "Sex is the core of life! There is nothing more precious than sex! I demand that you make love to me now, or I shall take away your womanhood as I did your manhood."

Jacovin stopped her study of sea life and turned to face Errana, who was still in the form of a tall and angry man, towering over her. "You teach me that sex comes from threats, that life comes from violence. You are the god of sex, and so I trust your teachings, but even so, I refuse." Then Jacovin dropped her instruments and spread her arms. "I am not a powerful god, Errana, but I will not succumb to threats, even if it robs me of happiness or identity. I was born of violence, and I know the price of violence. So I will not fight you. Steal what you will from my avatar. But be quick, for I have much still to discover this day."

Errana backed away in horror at her actions. "It is true that life often comes from violence. And you were born of violent conflict, so you know nothing else yet. But I was born of a loving mother. Life can come from peace and love. I will find a way to show this to you some day."

Errana flew away quickly in shame, and Jacovin returned to her studies.

In a few decades Jacovin became Janice, and today we know her as Janice Alberith, the goddess of Science and Experimentation.

Errana became a wiser and calmer god over the centuries, and it is said that in the fullness of time she did seduce Janice, long before Janice married Randolph. And some even say Errana still has Janice's penis stored away, waiting for the day Janice wants it back.

[Scribbled in the back cover is a note. "It took a long time, but I believe this was the "myth" Irasce referred to. It's an elven story in the Young Errana chronicles. And unless I am sorely mistaken, it does not justify Irasce's actions at all! I'm not sure what lesson elves take from this story, but surely it's not 'change people's sex and they'll come to appreciate it.' ... But I shall let you decide for yourself. -J" ]
