Modules
The Galaxy may be equipped with one of three distinct modules. Players may choose from a cargo, med-bay, or refinery module.
| Module images | Name | Description | Price ($USD) | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cargo | Module for vastly increasing the Galaxy's cargo capacity by adding 512 SCU of cargo.<ref name="GALAXY SPECIFICATIONS">Template:Cite RSI</ref> It also includes a cargo lift able to hold two StarCitizen:32-SCU containers or a vehicle up to and including the RSI Ursa in size.<ref name="GALAXY Q&A" /> The cargo bay also includes an industrial lift to get cargo and vehicles easily on and off the ship. The cargo module also has tractor cranes to move any size container. | 70.00 | ||
| Med Bay | Proper medical facility with dedicated beds and easy access through a lift (StarCitizen:Life lift) or the rear hangar. In three separated rooms, it has one Tier 1 bed for major injuries, two Tier 2 beds for moderate injuries and three Tier 3 beds for minor injuries. It is important to note that the Galaxy does not have a medical room of its own and, if installed, this would be the only medical installation onboard.<ref name="GALAXY Q&A" /> | 90.00 | ||
| Refinery | Refinery system to load and unload from Prospectors and other [[StarCitizen::Category:Mining ships|mining ships]]. This module adds 2 refinery reactors. The Galaxy refinery module has both storage for raw and refined materials (outside of just saddlebag storage like the Expanse) as well as two reactors that are much larger than the Expanse’s. So, while it can run fewer simultaneous jobs, it can process much larger quantities per job and store them after.<ref name="GALAXY Q&A" /> | 80.00 |
Future Modules
CIG have stated that they hope to add more modules types in the future.
Manufacturing
A Module for [[StarCitizen::Category:Construction vehicles|manufacturing items]] has been confirmed.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>
Base Building
At StarCitizen:CitizenCon 2953, StarCitizen:Todd Papy declared that the Galaxy would be able to build up to size Large structures<ref name="CC53">2953: Destination Adventure on YouTube</ref> with a base building module. About a year later, following controversy involving the announcement of the StarCitizen:Starlancer BLD, it was confirmed by StarCitizen:John Crewe on Spectrum<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref> that the Galaxy would come with a large base-building drone module.

Development
The Galaxy was first spotted publicly in the files of the Alpha 3.17.4 StarCitizen:PTU build.<ref name="datamine-3174-ptu" /> Information about the ship appeared in a leak in early November and was officially mentioned in the StarCitizen:Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2952 day 5 video.<ref>IAE 2952: Part 5 on YouTube</ref>
The Galaxy entered Pre-Production at some point during November and December of 2025, as stated in the PU Monthly Report November & December 2025 .<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>
The PU Monthly Report March 2026 mentions that several devs moved back on to the RSI Galaxy after a small hiatus helping other projects out. Like other ships in pre-production, they went over the original layout and made adjustments, both for flow and to make use of the ever-growing asset library, all while keeping true to the role and intent of the ship. This involved adjusting the front half of the lower deck to be less isolated and prevent it from leading to a dead end. Other areas were also adjusted to current metrics using suitable assets from other RSI ships.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>
According to the Monthly Report May 2026 the RSI Galaxy continued through whitebox as further revisions were made to the layout around the central docking collar, habs, bridge, and lift area to ensure clear flow from any direction.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>
