StarCitizen:Aciedo Communications

Aciedo Communications (or simply Aciedo) is a StarCitizen:human corporation that manufactures and maintains interstellar communications equipment. It is best known for its StarCitizen:CommRelay towers, first deployed in the 2750s, which transmit communications and navigational data across developed space. Aciedo is the largest communication service provider in the StarCitizen:United Empire of Earth (UEE), handling the majority of its comms traffic. The company also developed the StarCitizen:Spectrum ID, in cooperation with the StarCitizen:Imperial Spectrum Commission, to allow communication between star systems.<ref name="galactapedia">Template:Cite RSI</ref><ref name="kaizen">Template:Cite RSI</ref><ref name="tdd">Template:Cite RSI</ref>

History

Aciedo was founded in StarCitizen:2480 as Aciedo Shipworks, a fledgling ship manufacturer focused on long-range exploration vessels built in the aftermath of the StarCitizen:First Tevarin War. Although its early ship designs saw only moderate success, the communication drones included with them stood out for their reliability and transmission success. Captains across the newly formed UEE began asking Aciedo to sell the drones directly, and within the first year sales grew rapidly. In StarCitizen:2485, the company pivoted to communications drone development, rebranding as Aciedo CommRelay and eventually ceasing ship manufacturing entirely.<ref name="galactapedia" /><ref name="datamine">Datamined description, PTU 4.3.1</ref>

Today, operating as Aciedo Communications, the company is the UEE's largest communication service provider, handling over 70 percent of all comms and operating commrelays, commarrays, and commdrones across the Empire.<ref name="datamine" />
