Ship Upgrades is a system that allows to change a bought ship into another one<ref>Hub Crawl Hero - Fireside Chat with Carl Jones - Cloud Imperium Games, YouTube, 23 May 2023</ref> that costs at least as much while preserving all limited items, access passes and insurance levels. Ship upgrades can be applied to ship packages and standalone ships.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref> Sometimes ship upgrades are referred to as Cross Chassis Upgrades (CCUs).
History
In the past a very complicated system of upgrades was maintained. It allowed only for upgrades between selected ships and created upgrade paths that resulted in different prices. It was changed in 2015.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref><ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>
