Cloud Imperium Services, LLC
Created as Cloud Imperium Services on 9th April 2012, predating the StarCitizen:Star Citizen and StarCitizen:Squadron 42 announcement in October 2012 by months, Cloud Imperium Services is the earliest known mention of Cloud Imperium.
The use of an initial generic non descriptive name is relatively common for startups to avoid an early reveal.
Renamed to Cloud Imperium Games, LLC
It was renamed to Cloud Imperium Games, LLC, on March 3rd 2013.

Studio closure
Following the staff relocation to the new Manchester HQ, the closure of the Los Angeles studio was announced in March 2025.<ref>"[...]That also means we’re saying a bittersweet goodbye to our Los Angeles studio.[...]," Chairman's Club email, 21st March 2025</ref> A small group of community members who have made a lasting impact on the Star Citizen scene in California were invited, from StarCitizen:Bar Citizen organizers to StarCitizen:CitizenCon volunteers and local content creators, to pick up a piece of the wall art.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>
