StarCitizen:F8C Lightning

The StarCitizen:Anvil Aerospace F8C Lightning is the civilian variant of the StarCitizen:F8A Lightning space superiority fighter that is used by the StarCitizen:United Empire of Earth Navy. It closely mimics the military specs of the original F8A, and has been used in lines of defense against StarCitizen:Vanduul invaders. It was made available in extremely limited numbers to the civilian market by Anvil to celebrate the debut of the F8A in the UEE Navy.<ref name="F8CStore"></ref><ref name="F8Galactapedia"></ref>

Acquisition

The F8C Lightning can only be obtained by completing one of the following:

• As a reward for reaching the StarCitizen:Concierge level of Wing Commander.
• Collecting a StarCitizen:CDF F8C Certification Pass (Gold) during the 2023 anniversary.*<ref></ref>
• Claiming one from an Executive Hangar in Pyro.
• Completing the StarCitizen:Wikelo contracts StarCitizen:F8 War Mod or StarCitizen:Sneaky Stabber.

Lore

During IAE 2950, StarCitizen:Jax McCleary talked about a military trainer variant with two seats in the cockpit.<ref name="iae2950">Star Citizen: IAE 2950 - Anvil Aerospace</ref>

Development

2016-12-09	The F8 Lightning was designed by StarCitizen:Chris Smith (Lead Vehicle Artist)<ref>Reverse the Verse 2.16(File:Relay icon.svg transcript)</ref> and StarCitizen:Gavin Rothery (Freelance Conceptist).<ref>Gavin Rothery: Star Citizen Hardware and Ship Design</ref>
2018-01	The F8C Lightning was available as the Wing Commander StarCitizen:concierge reward which is introduced in January 2018.<ref></ref>
2023-10-10	CIG released the F8C Lightning from its pre-Squadron 42 "spoiler" lock to Concierge owners on 10 October 2023 in Alpha 3.20.0b.<ref name="Hunt"></ref> At the same time, a special event was held where players could obtain access to the F8C in several ways:<ref name="Hunt" /> One was obtaining a gold license, looted from crates in the StarCitizen:PU. When you turned this into a rental kiosk, the player would gain access to an F8C for 24 hours, and be able to purchase the ship on the StarCitizen:Pledge Store.
2023-10-10	A special Platinum paint along with an F8C was on offer by obtaining a platinum license, which was only available by taking it from StarCitizen:CIG developers in-game. Once obtained, all other players across the server will be alerted to your location. If the player manages to bring it to a ship dealership, they could obtain permanent ownership of the F8C, with StarCitizen:LTI.
2025-11-13	CIG announced that pledging would no longer require a gold license starting from IAE 2955. It was made available for all players for pledge, but still kept the one-per-account limitation. To compensate previous owners who had redeemed a license or reached Wing Commander rank, a special "Nightweaver" livery was to be distributed on Anvil Day of the event. The special paint is not giftable and is limited to one-per-account.<ref name="iae2955"></ref>
