StarCitizen:Store credit

Store credit refers to a virtual value of real world currency that was offered to the customer / backer in exchange for a product previously purchased with real money. On the RSI website StarCitizen:Pledge Store, this is obtained when you "melt" or exchange your purchase. You then get an amount of store credits equal to the value of the purchased item(s) at the time of purchase, excluding VAT/Tax. RSI Store credits can then be applied to most new purchases on the Pledge Store, except for StarCitizen:Warbond items.
