StarCitizen:Weapon mount

A weapon mount is a StarCitizen:vehicle component that holds one or more pilot-aimed vehicle weapons.<ref name="hardpoints">Template:Cite RSI</ref> The category covers single-weapon gimbal mount adapters as well as multi-weapon ball, nose, and canard housings.

Gimbal mounts are the standard configuration on most ships and turrets; a gimbal mount carries a weapon of the same size as the hardpoint it occupies. Fixed mounts, where a weapon attaches directly to the hardpoint and aims wherever the ship is pointing, are rare and mostly limited to guns built directly into a ship's frame.<ref name="hardpoints" />

Gimbal mounts became the default configuration on most ships and turrets, and the prior rule that a gimbal mount must carry a weapon one size smaller than its hardpoint was removed.<ref name="patch-3.23">Template:Cite RSI</ref>
