He was a location sound mixed in New York on very low budget movies.<ref name=":1" />

In part in order to focus on script writing he moved out to LA, where he was a QA localisation tester at Activision working on {{WP|ref=no|Call_of_Duty:_United_Offensive|text=Call of Duty: United Offensive}}, {{WP|ref=no|True_Crime_(series)|text=True Crime}}, and the {{WP|ref=no|Doom_3:_Resurrection_of_Evil|text=Doom 3 expansion}} during the night while interning for  [[StarCitizen:Ascendant Pictures]] during the day in 2002.<ref name="ReferenceA" /><ref name=":1" /> There he met [[StarCitizen:Adam Weezer]] and [[StarCitizen:John Schimmel]].<ref name=":2" /> He was director assistant on the Outlander movie where he met [[StarCitizen:Chris Roberts]]<ref name=":0" /> and [[StarCitizen:Ryan Church]], Adam Weezer, and did a lot of freelance movie stuff.<ref name=":1" /> During his free time he was working on screenplays<ref name=":1" />

Afterwards he decided to focus on his script writing and worked on one for a while with Chris Roberts.<ref name=":1" />

* Since the universe of Star Citizen took elements from [[StarCitizen:Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire|Ancient Rome]], he reread old textbooks about that period as well as talks about the classics ({{WP|ref=no|Star_Wars|text=Star Wars}}, {{WP|ref=no|Star_Trek|text=Star Trek}}, {{WP|ref=no|Ringworld}}, {{WP|ref=no|Foundation_series|text=Foundation}}, etc.) He has always been a fan of {{WP|ref=no|Joss_Whedon|text=Joss Whedon}} so he rewatched {{WP|ref=no|Firefly_(TV_series)|text=Firefly}} which hardly counts as 'work'.<ref name="ReferenceA" />

* With [[StarCitizen::Category:Cassandra's Tears|Cassandra's Tears]], he went to the Mystery and Imagination Bookshop in Glendale and picked up old copies of the Sci-Fi/Fantasy anthology magazines to try and capture that style used in the 1950's {{WP|ref=no|Flash Gordon|text=Flash Gordon-esque}} type of story. While [[StarCitizen:Kid Crimson]] was naturally more of a {{WP|ref=no|Dashiell_Hammett|text=Dashiell Hammett}} flavor.<ref name="ReferenceA" />

* He drew the most inspiration from music. When he started writing something, he'll try to collate any songs that put his head in that world or capture a scene or emotion. Therefore, his Star Citizen playlist is a variety of songs from all sorts of genres, from {{WP|ref=no|John_Murphy_(composer)|text=John Murphy's}} score for {{WP|ref=no|Sunshine_(2007_film)|text=Sunshine}} to {{WP|ref=no|Trent_Reznor|text=Trent Reznor}} and {{WP|ref=no|Atticus_Ross|text=Atticus Ross'}} {{WP|ref=no|The_Social_Network|text=Social Network}} score to {{WP|ref=no|Massive_Attack|text=Massive Attack}} to a {{WP|ref=no|Sharon_Van_Etten|text=Sharon Van Etten song}}. Anything that sparks the brain to the material.<ref name="ReferenceA" />

* He grew up as a gamer but his family always seemed to have the 'other systems'. They didn't have {{WP|ref=no|Atari_2600|text=Atari}} but the {{WP|ref=no|Intellivision}}. They didn't have a {{WP|ref=no|Commodore_64|text=Commodore}} 64 but {{WP|ref=no|Epson_Equity|text=Epson Equity}} II PC. So until PC really caught on, they never really had the popular games in the house. He kept playing games through high school but fell off a bit after college as he was broke and couldn't afford the systems.<ref name="ReferenceA" />

* Around 2010, he started playing games again but have slowed down. Recently, He has been watching his roommate work his way through {{WP|ref=no|The_Elder_Scrolls_V:_Skyrim|text=Skyrim}} which has been fun. He played through {{WP|ref=no|Mass_Effect_2|text=Mass Effect}} 2 in 2012, so he jumped on that bandwagon relatively late.<ref name="ReferenceA" />
