Levelling up Woodcutting grants access to both passive benefits as well as unlocking Dragonwilds:Spells and other abilities. Every level also adds a 0.3% chance to critical hit a tree while chopping.

**Due to the unique mechanics of Dragonwilds, the Dragonwilds:Unholy Symbol (+15%) and the Dragonwilds:Amulet of Glory (+25%) are consistently preferred over the Inspiring Ring of Woodcutting. Because higher damage output directly reduces chopping time, it results in significantly better experience rates per any given timeframe. If the player does not have access to these, they should use the Inspiring Ring instead.

General advices
As players continuously chop down trees in the base game (leave the stumps alone!), they will start to accumulate tree seeds as drops. By collecting and planting these seeds back into the ground around existing wooded areas, players can actively expand the world's natural forests, making long-term resource gathering and XP farming much easier.

Trees
Trees with very minimal experience gains such as Dragonwilds:blightwood and cacti are not mentioned here for training reasons.
Ash and Oak
Because Ash and Oak trees have the lowest HP of all tree types, they remain a highly competitive source of experience over any given timeframe. This is especially true when backtracking to them using significantly higher-tier axes than the ones minimally required, as the massive damage output allows players to shred through them instantly for rapid, consistent experience. Furthermore, they are incredibly accessible as they are located pretty much everywhere across Dragonwilds:Ashenfall, with some exceptions.

! Item
Although Willow trees are primarily located in dangerous areas, well-geared players can still effectively utilise them for training. Willows can be found all over the Dragonwilds:Fellhollow region, specifically clustered around the various ponds. Building Dragonwilds:lodestones in high-density Willow areas is highly recommended, as it allows players to quickly teleport from one cluster to another, bypassing dangerous terrain and minimising downtime. Just like with earlier tiers, chopping Willows becomes significantly faster and yields much better experience per any given timeframe once better axes are obtained. Players need to keep in mind that they're very likely to get attacked by Dragonwilds:Nature Spirits, Dragonwilds:Zombies and Dragonwilds:Skeletons while training on willow trees. Since there are only a few of them in every areas, it is recommended to plant the seeds acquired around the existing trees to expand the forests.

Tips
Maple
* Fundamentals: Players should always aim to use their best available logging axe, food, potion and jewelry. The Dragonwilds:Lumber Backpack is a notable unlock once level 78 Woodcutting is achieved and should always be worn afterwards.

* Damage: Due to the unique mechanics of Dragonwilds, the Unholy Symbol is consistently preferred over the Inspiring Ring of Woodcutting. Because higher damage output directly reduces chopping time, it results in significantly better experience rates per any given timeframe. If the player does not have access to the Dragonwilds:Unholy Symbol, they should use the Inspiring Ring instead.
Maple trees become a viable source of experience once the Dragonwilds:Dowdun Reach region is unlocked and the player has acquired a Dragonwilds:Mithril Logging Axe. Just like all trees, chopping Maple trees becomes significantly faster after unlocking better logging axes. A large concentration of them can be found in the Courtyard; this specific area features very few hostile enemies, though players should still watch out for stray Chinchompas wandering into the area! Unlocking the Dragonwilds:Nodestones as part of the main quest can make travelling there much easier. Note: Although players are prevented from building any Dragonwilds:Lodestones around the main area (Castle area), they can be built in some areas such as the Approach, the Menagerie, the Pastures and the Courtyard. Refer to the image on the right side. As of right now, Maple Trees almost have a guaranteed Dragonwilds:Maple Tree Seed drop every time the player chop them; this can significantly help expand the forest all around the Courtyard (safest area).
* Avoid Stumps: Players should avoid chopping the remaining tree stump after felling a tree, as doing so can prevent the tree from respawning.
* XP Per Swing: Experience is awarded for every individual axe swing, whether the tree is standing, fallen, or reduced to a stump, rather than upon successfully gathering logs.
* Respawning: Trees respawn after 3 in-game days.
* Perks: Food perks do NOT stack. Eating another food after consuming a different one overrides its perk(s) with the most recent food eaten. Potions behave like this as well; drinking a new potion will immediately overwrite your active potion buff. While players cannot layer multiple foods or multiple potions, potion and food perks can be stacked together simultaneously.
* Dragonwilds:Splinter spell: Although it is a very useful spell in normal gameplay to gather logs quickly, it reduces the XP from chopping a tree considerably.
* Note that higher-tier trees do not always yield better experience rates over a given timeframe, as some of them are highly sparse, located in dangerous areas, or both. While following the tree progression of your unlocked regions is generally a good approach, certain trees may not be worth the effort. For example, willow trees offer excellent base experience per swing, but they typically spawn in small groups and are located dangerously close to hostile enemies, reducing their overall viability for sustained training.

Methods
Yew
Ash and Oak chopping: Because Ash and Oak trees have the lowest HP of all tree types, they remain a highly competitive source of experience over any given timeframe.
Yew trees become available once the Dragonwilds:Umbral Sands region is unlocked. As of right now, Yews represent the highest tier of tree available in the game, aligning with the Adamant Logging Axe. While training on Yews is not the fastest method for raw experience, it remains viable, especially for players looking for variety in their training. Large clusters of Yews can be found scattered all across the desert area. When training here, players must manage the Scorching heat mechanic and seek out shadow when necessary. Additionally, combat readiness varies by spot: while some Yew clusters are located dangerously close to hostile enemies, others offer more peaceful chopping zones.

Willow chopping: Although Willow trees are primarily located in dangerous areas, well-geared players can still effectively utilize them for training. Willows can be found all over the Fellhollow region, specifically clustered around the various ponds. Building lodestones in high-density Willow areas is highly recommended, as it allows players to quickly teleport from one cluster to another, bypassing dangerous terrain and minimizing downtime. Just like with earlier tiers, chopping Willows becomes significantly faster and yields much better experience per any given timeframe once better axes are obtained. Players need to keep in mind that they're very likely to get attacked by Nature Spirits, Zombies and Skeletons while training on willow trees.
Methods
Maple chopping: Maple trees become a viable source of experience once the Dragonwilds:Dowdun Reach region is unlocked and the player has acquired a Dragonwilds:Mithril Logging Axe. Similar to Willow trees, chopping Maple trees becomes significantly faster and yields better experience after unlocking the Dragonwilds:Umbral Sands region, which allows players to upgrade to an Dragonwilds:Adamant Logging Axe. Maples are preferred for training because a large concentration of them can be found in the Courtyard; this specific area features very few hostile enemies, though players should still watch out for stray Chinchompas wandering into the area!
Tree Planting Method with Spells
This method involves planting two or more parallel rows of trees (approximately 20 trees) and casting Dragonwilds:Axtral Projection to fell all of them simultaneously. Because the fallen trunks overlap and stack on top of one another, players can then cast the Dragonwilds:Trunk Totem spell to convert the majority of the tree trunks into totems. Finally, casting the Dragonwilds:Splinter spell on the totems triggers a massive XP drop. It is worthy to note that the Trunk Totem spell can only be cast every 10 minutes; players should still use Axtral Projection and Splinter in between Trunk Totem casts as they both refresh much faster.

Yew chopping: Yew trees become available once the Umbral Sands region is unlocked.
This strategy requires a significant amount of upfront preparation, as players must gather a large stockpile of tree seeds before starting, but it can result in a quick and massive experience gain if done right. This cycle can be repeated as many times as desired if multiple rows are prepared in advance, keeping in mind that trees take three days to fully respawn.

Tree Planting Method: This method consists of planting two or more rows of trees (roughly 20 trees in total) and casting Dragonwilds:Axtral Projection to fell all of them simultaneously. Because the fallen trunks stack up on top of one another, players can efficiently split multiple trees into logs all at once. This strategy requires a significant amount of upfront preparation, as players must gather a large stockpile of tree seeds before starting, but it can result in a quick and massive experience gain if done right. This cycle can be repeated as many times as desired if multiple rows are prepared in advance, keeping in mind that trees take three days to fully respawn

As players continuously chop down trees in the base game (leave the stumps alone!), they will start to accumulate tree seeds as drops. By collecting and planting these seeds back into the ground around existing wooded areas, players can actively expand the world's natural forests, making long-term resource gathering and XP farming much easier.

Trees

Ash and Oakwidth=71x71width=70x70

Because Ash and Oak trees have the lowest HP of all tree types, they remain a highly competitive source of experience over any given timeframe. This is especially true when backtracking to them using significantly higher-tier axes than the ones minimally required, as the massive damage output allows players to shred through them instantly for rapid, consistent experience. Furthermore, they are incredibly accessible as they are located pretty much everywhere across Dragonwilds:Ashenfall, with some exceptions.

Yew width=60x60

Methods

Tree Planting Method with Spellswidth=60x60

Warning: Axtral projection/Splinter/manually chopping stump bug is a recent bug, causing a tree stump to be unexpectedly destroyed while not directly targetted!Template:Skill training guides
