Minecraft:Projectile Protection

Projectile Protection is an Minecraft:enchantment applied to Minecraft:armor that reduces damage received from Minecraft:arrows, Minecraft:tridents, and any other Minecraft:projectiles.

Obtaining

Projectile Protection can be obtained from Minecraft:enchanting tables, drops from mobs that have spawned in a Minecraft:raid,Template:Only books obtained by Minecraft:fishing, Minecraft:monster room chests, librarian Minecraft:villagers, and non-village Minecraft:structure loot.

Usage

Projectile Protection reduces damage from Minecraft:arrows, thrown Minecraft:tridents, Minecraft:shulker bullets, llama spit, Minecraft:blaze fireballs, and Minecraft:wind charges. It also reduces direct impact damage from Minecraft:ghast fireballs and wither skulls, but not from their explosions. Despite being projectiles, damage from Minecraft:splash potions of harming, Minecraft:dragon fireballs, Minecraft:firework rockets, or Minecraft:sonic booms are not considered to deal projectile damage, and are therefore unaffected by Projectile Protection.

The formula for damage reduction by projectiles is Template:Cd, meaning for every additional level another 8% of the damage is absorbed. The highest level (Projectile Protection IV) absorbs 32% (Template:Cd) of the damage inflicted by projectiles. Unlike the Minecraft:Blast Protection and Minecraft:Fire Protection Minecraft:enchantments, Projectile Protection offers no side effects outside of damage reduction.

The specific armor piece that Projectile Protection is applied to does not influence its strength. For example, applying it to leggings does not cause the player's legs to be more protected against projectiles than the rest of their body.

Damage reduction from Minecraft:Protection, Minecraft:Fire Protection, Minecraft:Feather Falling, Minecraft:Blast Protection, and Projectile Protection stacks up to an upper limit cap of 80%. This upper limit can be reached with a total of 10 levels of Projectile Protection on the users armor, or with 12 levels of Protection combined with 4 levels of Projectile Protection.

Incompatibilities

Minecraft:Protection, Minecraft:Blast Protection, Minecraft:Fire Protection, and Projectile Protection are mutually exclusive. Attempting to combine these enchantments with an Minecraft:anvil deletes the enchantment in the upgrade slot and replace it with the enchantment in the sacrifice slot. However, if Minecraft:commands are used to force two or more of these enchantments on the same item, the effects stack. But when the total of the EPF provided by the protection enchantments surpasses 20, the rest of these enchantments will no longer directly reduce the damage.

• Projectile Protection is also coded to reduce damage from Minecraft:snowballs and Minecraft:eggs, although they deal 0 damage in vanilla Minecraft.
