Template:Infobox biome The old growth pine taiga or mega taiga is a forested Minecraft:biome filled with large 2×2 Minecraft:spruce trees, with the tall trees being mostly arrow-shaped: a thick trunk with few leaves at the top. The ground is made of Minecraft:podzol and Minecraft:coarse dirt and covered by Minecraft:mossy cobblestone rocks.
Generation
Old growth pine taigas generate at moderately low temperature, very high Minecraft:humidity and positive weirdness. They commonly border regular Minecraft:taigas and Minecraft:dark forests. They are often separated by Minecraft:rivers from Minecraft:old growth spruce taigas, a variant with mega spruce trees that have leaves all around the trunk.
Old growth pine taigas can generate in any type of terrain, near Minecraft:swamps and Minecraft:windswept forests, or near Minecraft:mountains with Minecraft:grove slopes and nearby Minecraft:pale gardens. Due to their very high humidity values, old growth pine taigas are almost guaranteed to have Minecraft:lush caves generate beneath them.
Description
As the name implies, an old growth pine taiga includes trees that have attained a great age, and therefore great height. These pines grow all over the landscape, while most of them are tall with 2×2 trunks, regular pine and spruce trees can also generate.
Much of the Minecraft:grass blocks are replaced by large swaths of Minecraft:podzol and Minecraft:coarse dirt. Additionally, rocks made of Minecraft:mossy cobblestone frequently generate on the ground and Minecraft:dead bushes generate alongside the Minecraft:sweet berry bushes, Minecraft:ferns, and Minecraft:large ferns. Minecraft:Mushrooms are more common here than in most Overworld biomes.
Minecraft:Trail ruins may generate here, but Minecraft:villages and Minecraft:pillager outposts cannot. Black Minecraft:wolves, Minecraft:foxes, and Minecraft:rabbitsTemplate:Only may spawn here. The climate is cold and allows Minecraft:snowfall above layer Y=200±8, but this only occurs on top of some trees on mountain slopes. Uniquely to this biome, Minecraft:zombie villagers have the highest spawn rate amongst all biomes.Template:Only
Minecraft:Abandoned camps sometimes generate in old growth pine taigas.Template:Upcoming
With Minecraft:Vibrant Visuals, old growth pine taigas use a coolish humid volumetric fog setting, which slightly fades the distance in an orange tint. Old growth pine taigas have coolish color grading which tints the environment with a colder blue color, and cold sunlight which appears slightly brighter at dusk and dawn.
