A Mount is a mechanic that was introduced with the release of Dragonwilds:Fellhollow. To unlock this mechanic, players must complete Dragonwilds:The Wild Hunt side quest.
Mechanics
When finished with the quest, Dragonwilds:Vannaka will reward the player with the ability to summon the Dragonwilds:Nature Spirit as their own companion. Players will be able to unlock the ability to press the mount key (default: Script error: No such module "Key press".) to summon a rideable Dragonwilds:Terrorbird. Whilst deployed, players cannot interact with anything (including lodestones). Additionally, any damage or Dragonwilds:Wither buildup will dismount the player.
Players can control the direction and speed of their mount, much like the Dragonwilds:player character movements. To recall the mount, press the mount key again.
Mobility enhancements
The following steps can improve the mobility of the player's mount:
- The Dragonwilds:Windstep ability reduces standard fall damage by 50%. This allows riders to survive otherwise fatal drops of up to 75 meters.
- The Dragonwilds:Leggings Of Lightness will significantly increase the terrorbird's jump height and glide distance and reduce fall damage taken when combined with windstep. It allows for the highest jump a player can achieve.
- The Dragonwilds:Fleet Footed perk increases the sprinting Dragonwilds:stamina of mounts along with the player character.
Trivia
- The first rideable animal in the game being a Terrorbird is a nod to RuneScape's (RS3) 2016 April Fools joke, when they released the Terrorbird mount.
- The way the mount is summoned almost resembles the summoning skill from RuneScape. With differences being how they are summoned. In RuneScape, you would require materials to summon one, as RuneScape: DragonWilds just required you to complete a quest.
