Minecraft:Java Edition Infdev 20100629

A version of Minecraft:Minecraft Infdev or Alpha v1.0.0 was released on June 29, 2010.<ref name=":0">Template:TWON</ref> This version is not available in the Minecraft:launcher, but has been archived elsewhere.

This day also featured the release of the very first version of the standalone Minecraft launcher in the form of a downloadable applet, with the MinecraftLauncher.jar file being released by Minecraft:Notch on his blog.<ref name=":0" /> This was the last version of Java Edition that required internet access.

IRC logs show that people were referring to this as "alpha" upon release.<ref>Adura's IRC logs, 2010-06-29_#minecraft.log, "Jun 29 16:34:50 <visiON> wtf [...] alpha?" ... "Jun 29 16:41:24 <Quatroking> the alpha only gives me 55 fps" ... "Jun 29 16:45:59 <Quatroking> Yeah, it doesn't work in alpha"</ref> Notch also mentioned in a June 30 blog post "the version that was called “infdev” up until yesterday",<ref>Template:TWON</ref> also implying that this was the first version of Alpha.
