"Middle Classic" refers to a period of Minecraft:Java Edition Classic that sits between the two developmental tests run in Classic, Minecraft:Multiplayer Test and Minecraft:Survival Test. It immediately preceded Survival Test (hosted on a different Minecraft:applet page to Middle Classic) and contiguously preceded Minecraft:Late Classic (hosted on the same applet page). It began on June 8, 2009, when multiplayer was officially released by Notch<ref>Template:Twon</ref> in the form of the latest Multiplayer Test at the time, Minecraft:0.0.16a_02, being moved onto the main applet page, /play.jsp, from /mptest.jsp. It is therefore a continuation of Minecraft:Early Classic, which was what was on /play.jsp until then. Middle Classic lasted until Minecraft:0.0.23a_01, after which Survival Test began.
Minecraft:Creative is the only game mode present. Minecraft:Multiplayer continued to receive updates during this period.
