An abandoned camp is a small Minecraft:structure consisting of a Minecraft:wool tent with Minecraft:chests and Minecraft:barrels that generates in various Minecraft:Overworld surface Minecraft:biomes. Its appearance can be varied, such as being covered in Minecraft:leaves or featuring a Minecraft:crop farm nearby.

Description

File:Abandoned Camp Hidden Copper Chest Locations.png
The locations of copper chests not visible from the surfaceTemplate:Note

Abandoned camps can generate in eighteen surface biomes in the Minecraft:Overworld featuring tents made of white Minecraft:wool stairs with an array of chests, barrels, a Minecraft:straw bed, Minecraft:cushions, and other utility blocks inside. Rarely, an Minecraft:oxidized copper chest can be found with more valuable loot than the standard containers, sometimes this copper chest generates beneath one of the standard containers.

The floor of the tent and surrounding ground is comprised of Minecraft:dirt, Minecraft:gravel and Minecraft:path blocks, and nearby the tent is an unlit Minecraft:campfire along with a chest or a barrel. Minecraft:Cobwebs and leaves sometimes replace the wool stairs that make up the tent, giving it an abandoned appearance. Other features can sometimes generate around the tent, such as a Minecraft:tree or small crop farm. The fences supporting the tent are different depending on the biome. For example, a tent that generated in a Minecraft:pale garden would have Minecraft:pale oak fences.

Generation

Abandoned camps generate in the following biomes: Template:Columns-list

The generation of abandoned camps follows a grid of 34×34 Minecraft:chunk regions centered on the world origin. Each region contains a single generation attempt at a random location within the region; if the selected location is not within a valid biome, the camp does not generate.

Provided non-valid biomes do not cancel their generation, abandoned camps are spaced a minimum of 8 chunks and a maximum of 60 chunks apart. The average distance between two neighboring camps is therefore 34.5 chunks.

Structure

An abandoned camp consists of a tent and a campsite generated in front of it. The tent variant is determined by the biome in which the camp generates. The campsite variant is selected from a pool of 45 default variants and 4 additional biome-specific variants corresponding to the biome in which the camp generates, with each variant having an equal probability of being chosen.

As a result, a total of 8,820 unique abandoned camp configurations are possible.
