"Fire Magic is my heart, but I believe there's something beyond it. Something even more deadly. If only I had time to do more research.

Fire Magic Overview
Fire Magic is a common magical combat skill learned by many across Alharth.
In-Game Description
Using Fire to destroy your enemies. This is a very potent offensive skill, including long-range and area-effect attacks, and even some Cold attacks for versatility. However, there are drawbacks: Fire Magic is extremely Power-intensive; all creatures generate extra Rage when they are burned; and many creatures have some resistance to fire.
Research Mechanics VERY IMPORTANT
Fire Magic, Ice Magic, and Weather Witching are research-based skills. This means rather than directly learning spells, you learn a research research recipe for a certain level of spells, and when completing that research you get a random spell of that level. Outside of the first level of a spell, you can only research a level that you have already researched the previous level of. This means if you research all spells you want at a certain level, you can stop researching at that level, and the unwanted spells will not be acquired in future tiers of research. This can save a significant amount of materials in later tiers while you acquire your desired spells, as research becomes very costly later on.
Training Fire Magic
- Velkort, an elf living in Serbule, is always willing to teach Fire Magic to interested travelers.
- The Sand Seer, a Rakshasa in Ilmari, unlocks levels 51-70 and teaches equivalent level recipes.
- Landri the Cold is willing to teach Defensive Chill to Fire Mages.
- Bendith the Banished unlocks levels 71-80 and teaches the equivalent recipes.
- Levels 81-90 are unlocked by Reinath deep beneath Povus or can be bought by Guzor Harrison in Statehelm after completing his quests.
- Levels 91 - 100 are unlocked by Guzor Harrison in Statehelm and can be either bought with money or paid for with Statehelm Renown. Must be enrolled as a student at the Statehelm School of Magic for training options!

Research Ingredients
Fire Magic is a research based magic, and abilities are unlocked through combining specific ingredients using recipes. The skill can be expensive due to the required ingredients used in spell research:

,
. Please see the pages for those ingredients for more information on how to gather them. Researching is not a lottery, each recipe can only be completed a number of times so the amount of ingredients required is fixed. The research mechanic simply adds a little randomness to the order in which you receive the abilities.
- The abilities Spontaneous Fireball and Spontaneous Warmthball are not classified as Fire Magic abilities, but can be learned when completing the appropriate level research recipes.
Fire Wall
An interesting mechanic is that Fire Magic has a “Fire Wall” pet that just stands around and burns things. It’s implemented as a pet internally, but since it’s a wall, it can’t follow you around. It’s more like a trap. It can also be killed by enemies.
Fire wall has several variants that can be learned at level 65 or higher. These include Wall of Healing Flame, Summon Magmasphere, Wall of Coldfire, and Wall of Smarmy Flame. You can learn the recipe to research these spells from the training orb at Reinath in the Nightmare Caves, or from Guzor Harrison in Statehelm after completing his quest to join the academy.
Weapons
Not all staffs are produced with the proper runes to handle the use of magic. Casting Fire Magic requires the use of a [[ProjectGorgon::Category:Items/FireStaff|Fire Staff]].
