Magic was never enough. Oh, sure, you could change bones into delicious peaches, you could summon water out of thin air, you could call down fire upon your foes and laugh as their flesh turns to ash (if you’re that way inclined). Yet, even so, it was never enough. There was always more death to deal, more damage to inflict, more pain to spread and the priests of Brynmoor wanted more of it.
They wanted to see the garou crushed. Wanted to see them begging as the last of their pups expired beneath Saradomin’s purifying flame. So, they commissioned the wizards and alchemists to find new and innovative ways to summon suffering.
Crossbow bolts proved to be an interesting revelation. By affixing gemstones to the tips of these weapons, not only could they inflict deadly wounds on their enemies, but they could also inflict debilitating pain so powerful that the opponent would be stunned, making the next attack much easier.
The priests were very happy with this discovery. The so called “heretics” within Brynmoor were less so.
