Leather is an Minecraft:item used to craft Minecraft:bundles, Minecraft:books, Minecraft:saddles, Minecraft:armor and other items.
Obtaining
Mob loot
A fox sometimes spawns holding leather, which always drops upon death. Alternatively, a player can drop a Minecraft:food item, causing the fox to drop the leather in favor of that food.

Leather can be obtained as a "junk" item from fishing, with a 1% default chance of getting it.
