Template:Infobox biome The meadow is an elevated grassy Minecraft:mountain slope and plateau Minecraft:biome filled with patches of Minecraft:flowers, turquoise-green Minecraft:grass and Minecraft:tall grass, where Minecraft:sheep, Minecraft:donkeys and Minecraft:rabbits spawn.
Generation
Meadows generate on the slope of Minecraft:mountains, standalone on plateaus, or as valleys inside mountain rings, in the medium and cold temperature zones. This allows for a wide variety in shapes and terrain; they can often generate as "microbiomes" of only a few blocks wide; as plateaus stretching hundreds of blocks; or a thin slope surrounding massive mountains. Meadow biomes can also form mountain rings on their own.
On the valley side of meadows, they border Minecraft:flower forests, Minecraft:plains, Minecraft:forests, Minecraft:birch forests, and Minecraft:taigas while they border Minecraft:jagged peaks, Minecraft:snowy slopes, and Minecraft:groves on the mountain side. They can border Minecraft:cherry groves, Minecraft:savanna plateaus, or any snowy biome when the temperature changes, and Minecraft:forests or Minecraft:pale gardens when humidity increases.
Mountains with meadows are often separated from Minecraft:cherry grove and Minecraft:frozen peaks mountains or Minecraft:sunflower plains by Minecraft:rivers or dry valleys.
Description
The meadow is a high altitude counterpart to the Minecraft:plains biome. It is covered by most Minecraft:flowers controlled by a gradient, meaning that it can continue for hundreds of blocks with the same type of flower. In addition to this, the ground is covered by lots of Minecraft:short grass and Minecraft:wildflowers, along with some Minecraft:tall grass.
Rarely, a lone Minecraft:oak or Minecraft:birch tree of any size can generate and always has a Minecraft:bee nest. Both Minecraft:pillager outposts and Minecraft:plains villages can generate in this biome, making this the only mountain biome where villages can generate. Template:IN, unlike most overworld biomes, Minecraft:sugar canes and Minecraft:pumpkin patches cannot generate here.
Just like other mountain biomes, Minecraft:emerald ores can be found in meadows, especially at higher altitudes, and both coal and Minecraft:iron ores are commonly found here. Minecraft:Infested block blobs also naturally generate in meadows.
Template:IN, meadows are cold and allow Minecraft:snowfall above Y=200±8, however, this never occurs on natural terrain.
The only passive mobs that can spawn here are Minecraft:rabbits, Minecraft:sheep, and occasionally Minecraft:donkeys.
