Umbral Sands is a region ruled by the general Dragonwilds:Fuzan, a red dragon. this vast scorched desert region features a heat mechanic (called Dragonwilds:Scorch) where players will need to avoid staying out in the sun for too long.

Dragonwilds:Icthlarin will make an appearance in this region. This area will feature Kalphites and Kot-haar as the region's inhabitants, including a garou sect that is less hostile than the rest of the continent's garou tribes. Players can find Adamantite and Yew resources within the desert. Dragonwilds:Adamant equipment, Red Dragon Hide Armour, and Dragonwilds:Infinity Robes are confirmed to be releasing alongside this region.<ref>https://dragonwilds.runescape.com/news/ea-roadmap</ref>

In order to access this region, players will need to have completed the Black Knight's Fortress quest in order to access the Door to Umbral Sands within Dragonwilds:the Bastion.

History

"This land was once a thriving civilisation. The Moon Garou, followers of the River Mother, called this home. They built great halls and towers across the land, and found peace here. Fuzan put an end to that."

When Kuldra claimed the continent, only the Moon Garou chose to flee to Umbral Sands. For a time after that, their civilization flourished in peace. Trade flourished and their prosperity grew. That changed when Fuzan came and ravaged their civilization and razed it to ashes. When Fuzan discovered an Elder God artefact buried beneath the sands, guarded by the Kot'Haar, he bent the Kot'Haar to his will and claimed the artefact's power for himself. With the artefact's power under his control, he used its power to turn the sun over the desert into a weapon, scorching the desert, and the Moon Garou burned. Some who survived were driven into the shadows.

Itchlarin, God of the Dead, has taken an interest in the Moon Garou's plight, but is unable to intervene directly. However, in the realm of Death, he has heard tales of dragonslayers and plans to use them to fight back against Fuzan's reign.
