The Moon Garou don't recognise the term 'monk'. It's very much a Saradominist or Zamorakian term (strange how the customs of the two gods are so similar, don't you think?). The Moon Garou are more shamanistic, and do not understand or care for things like 'denying yourself worldly pleasures'. It is their belief that when there are so few fruits and treasures in the desert, why would someone possibly deny themselves a moment of enjoyment?
Which raises the question of why the Moon Garou call these fish 'monkfish' at all. Well, the answer is a little on the boring, perhaps even obvious side. The River Goddess, who many Moon Garou worship, came to Ashenfall from mainland Gielinor, where the monkfish are more prevalent. So she pointed at the fish, said its name, and Bob's your monkfish.
