The Stormwal (called 'Space Whale' by the designers) is a flying creature which lives in the atmosphere of StarCitizen:Crusader. The animal currently only exists in concept. Its implementation was confirmed on 2020-04-06 by writer StarCitizen:Dave Haddock.<ref name=":0">YouTube: Star Citizen: Calling All Devs - Bugs, Boids and Beasts (2020-04-24), acc. 2020-05-01</ref>

According to the [[StarCitizen::Category:Concept art images|concept art]], the carcass of a space whale is circa 100 metres long. They are hunted because their body produces a highly valuable resource.<ref name=":0" />

Stormwals may be an endangered species, as indicated by posters seen at StarCitizen:Security Post Kareah, which claim "Crusader is dedicated to the conservation of the Stormwals and their natural habitat".<ref>Template:Cite game</ref>

Adult stormwals can reach lengths of up to100 meters. Most typically feature pale pink striping, though blue-gray variants have also been observed. The stormwal's various fins act as electroreceptors, allowing the creature to detect the electrical fields of StarCitizen:aeroplankton and StarCitizen:kiami, which are its primary source of nutrition. The respiratory and buoyancy organs are highly adapted to the atmospheric conditions of the gas giant Crusader. Two large bladders located directly behind the head serve as the initial stage of the respiratory system, drawing in atmospheric gases. Specialized internal organs filter and distill hydrogen and helium from the inhaled air. The extracted gases are stored in a network of internal bladders, which the stormwal regulates to alter its buoyancy and navigate different atmospheric layers.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>

There currently sits a large sculpture of a stormwal on StarCitizen:Orison's StarCitizen:Cloudview Center platform made by StarCitizen:Bipasha Zhu. Cutting a stark contrast against the vibrant sky, the sweeping lines of Orison’s signature stormwal sculpture captures the grace and beauty of the gentle creatures it portrays. Formally titled "Until Again", artist Bipasha Zhu says that she was inspired by the city’s harmony and weightless strength. To better understand her bashful subjects, Bipasha spent a week living in a cloud submersible studying the stormwals up close.<ref>Template:Cite game</ref>

StarCitizen:Crusader Industries has adopted the stormwal as its company mascot. Visitors to Orison can purchase either Finley or StarCitizen:Francis the Stormwal as a plushy souvenir, and may even encounter people dressed up as one of these creatures.<ref>Crusader Industries Invites You To Discover Orison YouTube.
