Sweeping Edge increases sweep attack damage by 50%/67%/75% of the sword's attack damage for levels I/II/III. Sweeping Edge is not required to do sweep attacks, as swords have the ability innately. Sweep attacks activate when a player standing on the ground attacks while not [[Minecraft:sprinting]] with an attack cooldown at 84.8% or above. The sweep attack damages surrounding entities that are within a 1 by 0.25 by 1 block area of the attacked entity, dealing {{Hp|1}} and knocking them back. Sweep attacks do not increase damage against the attacked entity, only the surrounding entities, and Sweeping Edge does not change this.

The formula for sweep attack damage is: <code>1 + Base_Damage × (Sweeping_Edge_Level / (Sweeping_Edge_Level + 1)) + Enchantment_Damage</code>. Here, ''Base_Damage'' is the sword's damage before applying enchantments, and ''Enchantment_Damage'' is the damage bonus from [[Minecraft:Sharpness]], [[Minecraft:Smite]], and [[Minecraft:Bane of Arthropods]] for the target. For example, an iron sword enchanted only with Sweeping Edge I deals <code>1 + 6 × (1 / (1 + 1)) = {{hp|4}}</code> damage to each mob hit with a sweep attack. A diamond sword enchanted with Sharpness V and Sweeping Edge III deals <code>1 + 7 × (3 / (3 + 1)) + 3 = {{hp|9.25}}</code> sweep damage. A sword without Sweeping Edge but with Sharpness V would deal <code>1 + Base_Damage × (0 / (0 + 1)) + 3 = {{hp|4}}</code>. Extra damage from Smite and Bane of Arthropods is applied against undead mobs and arthropod mobs, respectively, based on the type of the sweep target (not the main target).
The formula for sweep attack damage is: <math>1+base\,damage\cdot\frac{level}{level+1}+enchantment\,damage</math> HP. Where ''base damage'' is the sword's damage before applying enchantments and ''enchantment damage'' is the damage added by [[Minecraft:Sharpness]], [[Minecraft:Smite]], and [[Minecraft:Bane of Arthropods]] for the target.

Higher levels than Sweeping Edge III (obtainable via the use of [[Minecraft:commands]] or third party editors) are processed following the formula above. The sweeping damage ratio caps at +1 (100% of the sword's base damage), which is achievable with an enchantment level of 199.
For example, an iron sword enchanted only with Sweeping Edge I deals <math>1+6\cdot\frac1{1+1}=</math>{{hp|4}} damage to each mob hit with a sweep attack. A diamond sword enchanted with Sharpness V and Sweeping Edge III deals <math>1+7\cdot\frac3{3+1}+3=</math>{{hp|9.25}} sweep damage. A sword without Sweeping Edge but with Sharpness V would deal <math>1+7\cdot\frac0{0+1}+3=</math>{{hp|4}}. Extra damage from Smite and Bane of Arthropods is applied against undead mobs and arthropod mobs, respectively, based on the type of the sweep target (not the main target).

Sweeping Edge is an Minecraft:enchantment applied to Minecraft:swords that increases Minecraft:sweep attack damage. This only affects the damage of the sweep attack against other surrounding entities, and does not increase damage against the entity that is attacked directly. Sweeping Edge is not required to do sweep attacks, as swords have the ability innately.Template:Until

Obtaining

Sweeping Edge can be obtained from Minecraft:enchanting tables. Enchanted books with Sweeping Edge can be obtained by Minecraft:fishing, from Minecraft:monster room and ocean ruins chests, from Minecraft:librarian Minecraft:villagers, and as non-village Minecraft:structure loot.

Usage

Sweeping Edge increases sweep attack damage by <math>\frac{level}{level+1}</math> of the sword base attack damage, meaning level I, II, and III deal <math>50\,%</math>, <math>66.\overline6\,%</math>, or <math>75\,%</math> of the sword's attack damage extra. Sweeping Edge is not required to do sweep attacks, as swords have the ability innately. Sweep attacks activate when a player standing on the ground attacks while not Minecraft:sprinting with an attack cooldown at 84.8% or above. The sweep attack damages surrounding entities that are within a 1 by 0.25 by 1 block area of the attacked entity, dealing Template:Hp and knocking them back. Sweep attacks and Sweeping Edge only affect sorrounding entities and not the attacked one.

Damage

The formula for sweep attack damage is: <math>1+base\,damage\cdot\frac{level}{level+1}+enchantment\,damage</math> HP. Where base damage is the sword's damage before applying enchantments and enchantment damage is the damage added by Minecraft:Sharpness, Minecraft:Smite, and Minecraft:Bane of Arthropods for the target.

For example, an iron sword enchanted only with Sweeping Edge I deals <math>1+6\cdot\frac1{1+1}=</math>Template:Hp damage to each mob hit with a sweep attack. A diamond sword enchanted with Sharpness V and Sweeping Edge III deals <math>1+7\cdot\frac3{3+1}+3=</math>Template:Hp sweep damage. A sword without Sweeping Edge but with Sharpness V would deal <math>1+7\cdot\frac0{0+1}+3=</math>Template:Hp. Extra damage from Smite and Bane of Arthropods is applied against undead mobs and arthropod mobs, respectively, based on the type of the sweep target (not the main target).

Higher levels than Sweeping Edge III (obtainable via the use of Minecraft:commands or third party editors) are processed following the formula above.
