Journal
It was on a cold winter night, that Nightingale and Moragrin finally met. The assassin had given up on interrogating the villagers and worked instead to lay a trap for the highwaywoman. A caravan, loaded with gold, made its way from village to castle under the cover of night, and Nightingale arrived to claim her bounty.
It was a short, but brutal battle. Arrows whistled through the air, making music like an orchestra. Daggers glinted in the moonlight, in a dance of death that would have shredded the life of any normal person. But Nightingale and Moragrin were evenly matched, until an errant magpie brought it all to an end.
Confused by the battle, the magpie had woken from its sleep in a mad panic and dived down at the fighting pair. The distraction was just enough for Moragrin’s blade to pierce the Nightingale’s heart and as she pulled her mask from her victim, Moragrin’s world shattered as she saw the moment the life left the eyes of her younger sister.
