Minecraft:Xbox 360 Edition Build 0016

Build 0016 (or Build 1.66.0016.0) is the earliest known development version of Template:Edition. It was showcased at Minecraft:MINECON 2011<ref>Minecraft: Marketplace Showcase – Minecraft on Twitch</ref><ref>Template:Ytl</ref> and is based on Minecraft:Java Edition Beta 1.6.6.

Features

• Everything from and before Minecraft:Java Edition Beta 1.6.6, written in C++ instead of Java.
• Console-exclusive controls and menus.
• A tutorial world.
• Exclusive graphics specifically relating to MINECON 2011, such as an overlay displaying "Work In Progress" and a small MINECON 2011 logo at the top left.

Differences

• The chat box in this version more closely resembled Minecraft:Java Edition's, due to the larger font size and the background being smaller, not casting all the way to the right like the final version does.
• Build 0016's chat box has bigger text, with the background being a bit smaller, and not casting all the way to the right as it does in the final version. This closely resembles the way the Minecraft:Java EditionTemplate:'s chat looks.

Trivia

• This is the first ever version of Minecraft to be shown on the Xbox 360.
• This build features a tutorial world completely unique to this build.<ref>Template:Ytl</ref> The tutorial level was changed to closely match the final revision at some point between this build and Minecraft:Build 0033, and the first known appearance of the final revision appears in Minecraft:Build 0054. This tutorial world, nearly identical to its appearance here, was later recovered in the February 28 2026 source code leak.<ref>Template:Ytl</ref>
