Minecraft:Java Edition Beta 1.6.6

Beta 1.6.6 is a version of Minecraft:Java Edition Beta released on May 31, 2011,<ref>Template:Twon</ref> which contains minor changes and fixes some of the bugs and crashes in Minecraft:Beta 1.6.5.

Additions

General

Minecraft:Options

• Added a "Performance" section in video settings.
  • Can be set to "Max FPS", "Balanced", or "Power saver".

Changes

Blocks

Minecraft:Glowstone

• Changed the material from "glass" to "stone".
  • This means the player needs a Minecraft:pickaxe to get resources from it.
  • This also means the player can now place Minecraft:redstone, Minecraft:torches, Minecraft:levers, etc. on the block.
• Now drops 2–4 Minecraft:glowstone dust when broken.
• Can now be crafted with 4 glowstone dust.

Minecraft:White wool

• Is now crafted using 4 string.

Items

Minecraft:Bone meal

• Can grow grass and flowers on grass blocks.

Non-mob entities

Minecraft:Boats

• Float up to the surface quicker.
• When falling down into water, they lose vertical momentum much faster.
• Crashing into soul sand on a boat now kills the player, but keeps the boat intact.

Fixes

3 bugs fixed

• Fixed Minecraft:beds not working very well in Minecraft:multiplayer.
• Destroying a Minecraft:boat no longer spawns the player too low, causing them to sometimes fall through the ground.
• Template:Key+ clicking a Minecraft:tool into a chest no longer restores it to new.

Trivia

• The first version of Minecraft:Xbox 360 Edition (TU0) and Minecraft:MinecraftEdu mod 0.1 is equivalent to this version.
