Template:Infobox NPC Dionysius, also known as the Wise Old Man, is a legendary sage and mighty adventurer who travelled to Dragonwilds:Ashenfall with Dragonwilds:Zanik, Dragonwilds:Vannaka, Dragonwilds:Doric, and Dragonwilds:Cathan. After their ship was wrecked by Dragonwilds:General Velgar, the adventurers would gather materials and create a Dragonwilds:Lodestone, where they would contact the mainland for reinforcement. He would greet the newly arrived adventurer to Ashenfall and be their mentor during their progress through the continent.

History

History in the Mainland

In his youth, Dionysius was a renowned adventurer who single-handedly defeated the troll invasion of Keldagrim. He also crushed the enemies of one of the mountain tribes and taught the people of Karamja how to use powerful herbs that might aid them in battle. Throughout his life, he committed many great deeds that made the world a better place. After finishing his book on destructive magic and settling down, Dionysius began to feel that the world had been unfair to him. Despite tirelessly giving his youth for the betterment of others, he had nothing to show for it. Even his devout faith in Dragonwilds:Saradomin wasn't making his life more comfortable. Eventually, he turned to crime, targeting a nearby bank where his magical abilities easily overwhelmed their security measures. He stole a considerable amount of gold and a distinctive blue party hat. Dionysius considers this theft as fair repayment for his years of selfless service to the world, and now lives comfortably on his ill-gotten wealth. Although he is considered returned, in both the life of an adventurer and crime, he had started plotting against the Wizard's Tower.

Before he could execute his plan, an adventurer would approach him to assist them in defending a fishing colony against the invading army of Sea Trolls. After taking most of the credit of defending the colony, Dionysius would return home where he decides to continue his strategy to rob the Wizard's tower. However, after some more time, the same adventurer would request another help against a sorceress named Zenevivia, who happened to be the old's man old lover. After assisting teh adventurer, Zenevivia and Dionysius had made up after years of resentment, becoming partners once more. Together, they attempted to steal from the Wizard's Tower, but that plan had failed, forcing them to retreat.

Sometime during the events of the Dragonwilds:Sixth Age, he started training Cathan.

History in Ashenfall

Some rich investors would go to him and request that he goes on a expedition, which he agreed with, after "convincing" these investors to make him the leader of the expedition, through magical display. He would then invite Cathan, believing this would be a perfect opportunity to train him further in the adventuring career. He now remains in Ashenfall, assisting in dealing with the threats of the region.

Journal

The following text is transcribed from the Journal.
Dionysius was once a legendary adventurer. In his youth, he single-handedly defeated the troll invasion of Keldagrim. He crushed the enemies of one of the mountain tribes and taught the people of Karamja how to use powerful herbs that might aid them in battle. He committed great deeds throughout his life, and the world is a better place with him in it.

Or it was. After he settled down, finishing his book on destructive magic, Dionysius began to feel that the world was a little unfair. He had tirelessly given his youth for the betterment of the world, and he had nothing to show for it. Even his devout faith in Dragonwilds:Saradomin wasn't making his life more comfortable. So, like so many do, he turned to crime. He targeted the nearby bank, his magic making quick work of their security, and he lifted himself a great deal of gold as well as a snazzy blue party hat. Content to consider this repayment for saving the world so often, he now sits back and enjoys his well-earned wealth.

The Temple Knights consider him an ultraviolet archangel threat and watch him very closely... from very far away.

Trivia

  • His appearance in RuneScape: DragonWilds leans to his Old School RuneScape appearance, while still having some inspiration to his RuneScape appearance.
    • His overall appearance is that of his Old School RuneScape counterpart, mainly his robes and glasses. While RuneScape inspiration comes from his party hat (being a bit messy, in his chat head).
      • The only unique aspect of his appearance is his cape, which has a Saradomin symbol behind it, and his Saradomin Staff, which is more detailed than both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape.
  • He authored a book on destructive magic before turning to crime.
