Beta 1.17.0.52 is the sixth beta version for Minecraft:Bedrock Edition 1.17.0, released on April 28, 2021,<ref>Template:Cite</ref> which moved some features out from experimental gameplay, and fixes bugs.

It is the last Bedrock version to support Android 4.4 (KitKat).

  • Using a Minecraft:bucket on a cauldron filled with powder snow empties the cauldron and creates a powder snow bucket.

Minecraft:Cobblestone and Minecraft:Cobbled Deepslate

  • Can now be used to repair stone tools and weapons on an Anvil.

Minecraft:Glow Item Frame

  • Maps now glow in Glow Item Frames.
  • Now available outside the Caves and Cliffs experimental toggle.

Minecraft:Small Dripleaf

  • Can now also be placed on moss blocks.
  • Now available outside the Caves and Cliffs experimental toggle.

Minecraft:Stone, Minecraft:Andesite, Minecraft:Diorite, and Minecraft:Granite

  • No longer used to repair stone tools and weapons on an Anvil.

Minecraft:Amethyst Shard, Minecraft:Copper Ingot, Minecraft:Glow Ink Sac and Minecraft:Spyglass

  • Now available outside the Caves and Cliffs experimental toggle.

Raw Metal

  • Fortune enchantment now will drop more raw iron/gold/copper when mined.
  • Raw copper, iron, and gold ore are now available outside the experimental toggle.

Minecraft:Powder Snow Bucket

Minecraft:Saplings

  • Can now grow on moss block.

Minecraft:Spawn Eggs

  • Axolotl, glow squid, and goat spawn eggs are now available outside the Caves and Cliffs experimental toggle.

Mobs

Axolotl

  • Axolotls can be rehydrated with a splash and lingering water bottles.
  • Now spawn in any biome and up to Y=63 instead of Y=30.
  • Now available outside the Caves and Cliffs experimental toggle.

Glow Squid

  • Now spawn in any biome and up to Y=63 instead of Y=30.
  • Now available outside the Caves and Cliffs experimental toggle.

Goat

  • Changelog states they no longer drop Mutton when killed, though this is not the case.
  • Now available outside the Caves and Cliffs experimental toggle.

Snow Golem and Strider

  • Are now damaged by splash and lingering water bottles.

World generation

Amethyst Geode

  • Now available outside the Caves and Cliffs experimental toggle.

General

Minecraft:Add-ons and Script Engine

  • Added a MoLang query to get default bone pivots.
  • Updated MoLang query to return normalized item use time remaining based off given parameters.

Fixes

Caves & Cliffs

  • Axolotls now have their missing sounds (Template:Bug).
  • Axolotls now swim way more often (Template:Bug).
  • Using Bone Meal on a sapling planted on a Moss block now correctly grows a tree (Template:Bug).
  • Cobblestone and Cobbled Deepslate are now used to repair stone items on an Anvil (Template:Bug).
  • Cauldrons fill up in snowy weather, creating a renewable source of Powder Snow (Template:Bug).
  • Glow Lichen is now visibly as close to the surface it is placed on as Java Edition (Template:Bug).
  • Glow Lichen now has a map color that more closely resembles the color of the block (Template:Bug).
  • Azalea Leaves and Flowered Azalea Leaves have correct color on maps.
  • Maps now glow in Glow Item Frames (Template:Bug).
  • Pointed Dripstone now correctly gets destroyed after the block it was placed on are broken by block updates.

Blocks

  • Colors applied to text on signs are no longer barely visible (Template:Bug).

General

  • Players can once again host multiplayer games and send invites over mobile/cellular data (Template:Bug).

Graphical

  • Chemistry items icons no longer disappear after suspend/resume in Education Edition worlds.
  • Fixed issue with underwater fog being the same for all biomes and view distance not increasing over time (Template:Bug, Template:Bug).
  • Underwater view distance is increased in Rivers and land biomes to be more like Minecraft Java when “Caves and Cliffs” experiment toggle is enabled.

Items

  • Boats now break when they collide with a Cactus from the side (Template:Bug).
  • Changed the position of bow to match previous versions (Template:Bug).
  • Crossbows in players' and mobs' hands are now rendered correctly in all perspective modes (Template:Bug).
  • Fixed animation issue causing an off-hand held shield to appear to re-equip whenever the player changes their main-hand item (Template:Bug).
  • Cauldrons that have been emptied after containing potion are now correctly filled with water when it rains.
  • Fixed issue where Fireworks of all colors could be crafted from any other color of Firework Charges (Template:Bug).

Mobs

  • Blazes and Enderman once again receive damage from splash water bottles (Template:Bug).
  • Fixed a bug where mobs would not spawn below y=0 when the Caves and Cliffs experimental toggle is enabled (Template:Bug).

Android

  • Android should once again see invite notifications and achievement toasts (Template:Bug).

Gameplay

  • Fixed an issue with certain blocks which could cause them to grow too quickly when ticked.

Mobs

  • Mobs and entities once again make a sound when entering water.

Commands

Template:Redr command is now prohibited in legacy worlds and affected worlds will reset their altered spawn positions to the original position (Template:Bug).
