Casaba Outlet is a StarCitizen:human clothing retail franchise founded by the siblings Jean and StarCitizen:Joel Polanco. It sells designer-style fashion at affordable prices and has grown from a single storefront on StarCitizen:Lyre to a chain reaching from the Corel to Chronos systems across nearly the entire StarCitizen:UEE.<ref name="portfolio">Template:Cite RSI</ref>

History

Jean and Joel Polanco grew up aboard their family's StarCitizen:Freelancer as their parents worked as independent cargo haulers, crisscrossing the systems in search of work. Jean became fascinated with the cultural differences between planets and began buying distinctive items on one world to resell on the next, realizing that a cheap trinket from one system could be a statement piece in another. The pair later shifted from selling single curiosities to buying remnant stock in bulk from small and medium softline manufacturers, and their ship became known in various landing zones for stylish yet affordable clothing.<ref name="portfolio" />

In 2843, the first Casaba store opened in StarCitizen:Lyre in the StarCitizen:Goss system, run by the siblings' parents. Joel named it after a fictional city of peace and wonder that their mother, Tierney, had invented to entertain him as a child. To support growth, Joel hired haulers and Jean charted shipping routes that cycled through systems and met at designated landing zones, where stock from core worlds was transferred to ships bound for the store. These interlocking routes cut shipping costs and let the Lyre location undercut competitors, and Casaba soon expanded by leasing inexpensive storefronts near where the routes intersected.<ref name="portfolio" />

For nearly two decades, Casaba kept expanding by adding locations and brands. In 2867, the Jayco Group offered to buy the company and fold it into its conglomerate, but Jean and Joel rejected the offer. Casaba then acquired the failing Gasper's Garments chain, gaining prime retail space in the core systems. The pressure of stocking the additional stores strained the siblings' relationship, and in 2875 Jean stepped down to travel. The two reportedly remained close, and Jean continued to offer Joel advice.<ref name="portfolio" />

The Jayco Group later approached Joel again, proposing to combine supply chains and rebrand all of Jayco's clothing stores under the Casaba name after market research found it the stronger brand. Joel agreed once Jayco allowed him to stay on, and in 2883 the company officially rebranded as Casaba Outlet. The merger placed a store in nearly every UEE system, and Joel eventually rose to the position of CEO. Casaba Outlet is regarded as a success story taught in business schools across the UEE.<ref name="portfolio" />

Development

Casaba Outlet was added in patch 2.0 on StarCitizen:Area18 (social module), which could be accessed from the game's main menu. At the time it was the only place where players could spend their aUEC on clothing. In patch 3.0, the StarCitizen:Area18 menu option was removed and Casaba, in a different form, moved to StarCitizen:Port Olisar. Patch 3.5 reintroduced StarCitizen:Area18 into the StarCitizen:Persistent Universe, which returned Casaba Outlet to its original location.
